Apple released a new commercial for the iPhone 17 Pro today called "Peak Performance," focusing entirely on the device's ability to handle heavy workloads without getting hot. The spot highlights the A19 Pro chip and the vapor cooling system that allows it to run faster for longer.
Set in a sweltering desert, the video features a runner sprinting while a narrator describes the "vapor cooled" A19 Pro chip. It mentions the processor's ability to handle "over 35 trillion complex tasks a second." To illustrate that power, the runner starts juggling tasks mid-sprint—playing a piano and solving a Rubik's cube—before smashing through a stone wall.
A recent teardown reveals the shift to an aluminum unibody that houses an integrated vapor chamber. Laser-welded and filled with deionized water, this system pulls heat away from the processor much more effectively than the graphite sheets used in older iPhones.
The A19 Pro chip is manufactured on third-generation 3-nanometer nodes. Apple executives recently explained that the chip uses neural accelerators within its GPU cores to better manage on-device AI tasks. The improved cooling is key to maintaining those peak speeds, addressing past concerns about throttling during gaming or intensive use.
