Apple appears set to reduce the footprint of the Dynamic Island on its next flagship smartphone. According to a new claim from leaker Ice Universe, the company will shrink the width of the Dynamic Island by approximately 35 percent on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The leaker specifies that the cutout width will decrease from the current 20.76mm down to 13.49mm. This reduction would make the pill-shaped interface less prominent during media playback and everyday use. The post does not explain how Apple achieved the change, but it points to a consolidation or relocation of some Face ID sensors.
Analyst Jeff Pu has also predicted that the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a smaller Dynamic Island. Separately, supply chain reports say Apple is testing under-display Face ID technology. By moving the infrared sensors beneath the panel, Apple could leave only a circular cutout for the front-facing camera, though the Dynamic Island software UI is expected to remain to mask that hole.
Earlier this month, rumors circulated that the camera cutout might shift to the corner of the display. That theory was quickly debunked as a translation error, with sources clarifying that the sensors—not the camera—were moving under the display.
