Apple TV Sets June 5 Premiere for 'Cape Fear' Thriller Starring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams

Apple TV has set a premiere date for "Cape Fear," a new psychological horror thriller led by Academy Award winner Javier Bardem and Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, who also executive produces. The 10-episode limited series is scheduled to debut globally on Friday, June 5, 2026.



The series will launch with the first two episodes, followed by new installments every Friday through July 31. Created and showrun by Nick Antosca, the project brings together two of cinema's most influential filmmakers as executive producers: Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.


Inspired by the 1991 film directed by Scorsese, the story follows married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) as they face a storm in the form of Max Cady. Played by Bardem, Cady is a notorious killer seeking vengeance against the couple responsible for his imprisonment. The ensemble cast also features CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov.

This high-profile release fits into a crowded slate for the platform, which was recently rebranded to Apple TV. It aligns with the company's aggressive strategy to deliver new original content nearly every week throughout 2026. It also marks another major project for Bardem with Apple, who stars alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming F1 film.

The series hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. It draws from both John D. MacDonald's novel "The Executioners," which inspired a 1962 Universal Pictures film starring Gregory Peck, and the acclaimed 1991 remake produced by Spielberg. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum is set to direct the pilot and serve as executive producer.
