Google is raising the price of YouTube Premium in the United States, according to emails sent to subscribers. The monthly rate for an individual subscription is climbing by $2, moving the cost from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.
The new pricing is already live for those signing up for the service today. Existing subscribers are beginning to receive emails notifying them that the higher rate will take effect on their May 2026 billing date, with some reports suggesting changes may appear as late as June depending on the account. YouTube says the increase will allow it to continue improving the service and support creators and artists on the platform.
Other subscription tiers are seeing adjustments as well. The Family plan, which allows up to six members, is jumping from $22.99 to $26.99 per month. YouTube Music Premium is increasing by a dollar to $11.99, while the Premium Lite tier is rising to $8.99. Premium Lite only became available about a year ago and was recently updated with background play and offline downloads.
Individual plan holders looking to mitigate the increase can still opt for an annual subscription at $159.99, which offers about 15 percent savings over the new monthly rate. Subscriptions can be managed, paused, or canceled through the account settings menu under the Purchases and Memberships section.
