Amazon has announced two new 2K video doorbells for its Blink smart home brand, upgrading video resolution and adding AI-generated motion summaries.
The lineup introduces the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ and the Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+. Both models step up to 2K resolution with improved dynamic range to handle bright and low-light environments more effectively. The wired version is designed to replace an existing doorbell for continuous power and starts at $49.99 in the U.S. The battery-powered model offers more flexible installation and includes a head-to-toe field of view, making it easier to see packages left on the ground.
A major software addition for U.S. customers is Blink Video Descriptions. Instead of sending a generic motion alert to your iPhone, the system uses cloud-based AI to generate a brief text summary of what actually triggered the camera. Users can quickly read what is happening at the door without having to open the Blink app and load the full video clip. This feature requires a Blink AI Basic or Plus subscription.
The expanded hardware arrives as Amazon pushes deeper into ambient intelligence, following the recent rollout of its upgraded Alexa+ assistant. It also gives iOS users another budget-friendly security option while Apple continues development on its own native smart home camera expected later this year.
Both the wired and battery doorbells are available for pre-order starting today in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and select European markets.
