Apple is adding another sports documentary to its streaming lineup with a three-part series on the University of Connecticut women's basketball team. "The Dynasty: UConn Huskies" will premiere globally on August 21, 2026.
The series chronicles the program's 40-year rise under Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma. Back in 1985, UConn had recorded just one winning season before evolving into one of the most dominant programs in college sports. The team went on to secure 12 national championships, the most of any program in NCAA Division I basketball history.
Directed by Matthew Hamachek and Erica Sashin, the docuseries combines archival footage with new interviews featuring members of the 2025 National Championship roster, including Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong, KK Arnold, and Jana El Alfy. Former UConn stars Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, and Breanna Stewart also appear throughout the series.
Apple says the documentary explores the demanding culture built under Auriemma, examining the discipline, pressure, and personal sacrifices tied to sustaining the program's decades-long dominance. The series also offers behind-the-scenes access to players, coaches, and alumni reflecting on how the Huskies became the standard in women's college basketball.
Skydance Sports produced the project for Apple, with Learfield Studios and Revue Studios serving as executive producers. The series joins Apple's growing catalog of sports-focused programming, which includes an upcoming docuseries on Andre Agassi, exclusive Formula 1 coverage, "Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series," and "Stephen Curry: Underrated."
