Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26.5 to the public, bringing new App Store subscription options and essential security improvements to the Mac.
The update, which carries build number 25F71, arrives alongside the rollout of iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5. A notable addition in this release is support for monthly subscriptions with a 12-month commitment in the Mac App Store. This new billing structure allows developers to offer lower monthly pricing to users who agree to complete a full year of payments.
Beyond the App Store changes, Apple indicates the software provides general performance improvements, bug fixes, and security patches designed to keep the operating system running smoothly. It follows the recent launch of macOS Tahoe 26.4.1, which addressed minor networking bugs.
Mac owners can download the update over the air by navigating to System Settings, clicking General, and selecting Software Update. For those who prefer a manual installation or need a full restore image, direct download links are available on our Where to Download macOS Tahoe page. You can also quickly locate the exact firmware file for your specific machine using the iClarified IPSW Wizard.
