Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26.5.1 to address a specific bug affecting enterprise users on the company's latest M5 hardware.
The minor point update, which carries build number 25F80, resolves an issue that caused Mac computers powered by an M5 chip to unexpectedly shut down when using certain content-filtering network extensions. Because this bug primarily impacted corporate and educational environments relying on restricted networks, the patch is highly recommended for enterprise deployments.
This is not the first time Apple has had to patch networking software for its latest silicon. Earlier this spring, the company issued a similar targeted fix to resolve a glitch that prevented M5-equipped machines from joining 802.1X Wi-Fi networks while using active content filters.
The update arrives just a few weeks after the broader public rollout of macOS Tahoe 26.5. Mac owners can install the latest firmware over the air by navigating to the Software Update menu located within System Settings.
For those who prefer a manual installation or need a full restore image, direct download links are available on our Where to Download macOS Tahoe page. You can also quickly locate the exact firmware file for your specific machine using the iClarified IPSW Wizard.
