AirPods 5 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 Get First Discounts Ahead of Release

Amazon has issued its first discounts on AirPods 5 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, dropping both below Apple's prices three days before they reach stores. Two more Apple Watch Series 12 models are also on sale, including the $399 entry-level version.

AirPods 5 are $124.99, down from $129. The Ultra 4 in Natural Titanium with the Ocean Band is $779.99, down from $799. Neither has been discounted before today. The $399 Series 12 is now $389.99, and the 42mm Cellular in Dark Bronze Aluminum is $489.99.

The Series 12 has been discounted since September 10, and eight more models still cost less than Apple charges:

The other seventeen Ultra 4 models are still at Apple's price, as is AirPods 5 with the wireless charging case at $149. That puts the gap between the two AirPods versions at $24.01, and we looked at what the extra money actually gets you.

AirPods 5 use a new multiport acoustic architecture and updated computational audio. Apple says they remove up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, alongside an updated Transparency mode, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness and a next-generation Adaptive EQ. The $149 version adds a wireless charging case, longer battery life and on-stem volume control.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 runs the S11 chip and the Health Sensing System, reading heart rate every five seconds and measuring heart rate variability up to 24 times more often, with a readiness score from 0 to 10. Apple rates it for up to 50 hours of battery life, or 84 in Low Power Mode, with a 15-minute charge adding up to 18 hours and Extended Workout mode recording for up to 25 hours.
