OLED iPad mini Expected in Late October or November [Report]

Apple's first iPad mini with an OLED display is expected to arrive between late October and sometime in November, according to Mark Gurman.

The window, shared in a new PowerOn newsletter, updates an earlier October release target. The tablet is due after Apple's planned October 13 smart home event, which is expected to introduce a display-equipped home hub, a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV.

The new iPad mini will likely feature a faster processor and a landscape-oriented FaceTime camera. Leaked Apple code last month identified the new chip as the A20 Pro, replacing the A17 Pro used in the current model. The camera change would bring the smaller tablet in line with the rest of the iPad lineup.

Separate supply-chain rumors have pointed to an 8.4-inch OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. That would be slightly larger than the current screen while keeping a standard refresh rate rather than adding ProMotion.
