Steve Jobs has just resigned as CEO of Apple and will be replaced by Tim Cook. Tim Cook was previously the company's chief operating officer (COO). Jobs will continue to stay on the Apple Board as Chairman. Since January 17th, Jobs has been on medical leave.

Steve Jobs' Letter to the Board and Community

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

My eight years old son felt very bad on resignation of Steve Jobs. He is very much fascinated by apple gadgets. He is more worried about Steve's health and apple's future. Any assurance for him from apple? Syed Shadullah Riyadh Saudi Arabia

Kroo - August 25, 2011 at 8:07am
If you're happy using a piece of 20 year old technology that's a complete piece of fucking shit, be my guest. Flash, like yourself is just useless. I'd like to move forward with my technology thanks. Even stupid microsuck had to move forward, flash hasn't. I'm glad Steve fucked flash up the ass, the useless cunts. Steve is the king of innovation. Without him none of this would have happened. Bill Gates was made because of Steve. Without Jobs, microsuck wouldn't have anyone to steal ideas from (windows 95 anyone)? Good luck with your health Steve. The world is better for you being in it.
