Pod2g has announced the completion of an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak of the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod 4G, iPod 3G, iPad 1, and Apple TV 2 (4.4.3).

Previously, pod2g said that he would work on jailbreaking the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 after finishing the jailbreaks for the above devices.

Tons of questions from my nice followers. Too early to answer. Will work on iOS 5.0.1, will try iPad 2 and 4S after others are ready.

Let's hope he is successful with the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 as well. Stay tuned to iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for news on when jailbreak will be released.

When will Redsn0w be released that can create a custom IPSW for 5.0.1??? Since apple is not signing the 5.0 any longer anyone that wishes to preserve their baseband and upgrade to 5.01 can't (unless uses the Snowbreez on a Win machine)

Nut(s) - December 15, 2011 at 4:13pm

Yeah we know how you did it! Congratz! But release it already.

I really hope the untether doesn't get released until 5.1 is released, I am still not sure whether or not this is userland based or an exploit. Hope its an exploit so I can always use my ipad 2 at least tethered with new updates, but we'll see I guess. I think 5.1 is set to release sometime in january

Jeff - December 14, 2011 at 10:51pm

OK, Where is it?... I'll Give it a try...

Alejandro Iván - December 15, 2011 at 1:27am

The untether is ready, but not published yet. When people like Dev-Team or others implement it into an application, then you will know where to download it :)

I own i4 and i am on ios 5.0.1 bb1.59.0 I have used sn0wbreeze tu update and perserve bb because I need my phone to be unlocked. So when this untethered jb come out would i be able to run new jb over this existing one? thanks

James - December 14, 2011 at 8:12pm

Only says 5.0 but not sure why it wouldn't work on 5.0.1 since that release was only for battery issues right? I'm not on 5.0 and can't update to that so hopefully it works for 5.0.1 and hopefully it comes out this week. And yeah, he'll release not wait for 5.1 Remember they need to beta test this stuff before release so people don't blow up.

blindman - December 14, 2011 at 8:35pm

Can you not read? it says 5.0.1 lol

iClarified - December 14, 2011 at 8:49pm

He's talking about the video which we posted for illustrative purposes. Pod2g has completed the 5.0.1 jailbreak.

smt - December 14, 2011 at 7:56pm

and rest of milions will see jb when? next year?

hahahehe - December 14, 2011 at 10:16pm

ETA 15 years. Problem?

Arron - December 14, 2011 at 7:31pm

Just upload the jailbreak and release its getting boring these videos of this type of news. Fantastic it works yes you have tested it its been too long! Release it!

Thunderbyte - December 14, 2011 at 7:51pm

Releasing the JB without thorogh testing could potentially brick millions of devices. I would not want that.

Thunderbyte - December 14, 2011 at 8:39pm

Could you tell me all that without insulting me, possibly? Obviously not...

I have an Iphone 4s on iOS 5.0.0, should I update to iOS 5.0.1? Or the JB will work on ios5.0.0?

I want to complain but I won't. These guys work so hard and until then, I'll just enjoy my non Jailbroken iPhone 4s. I know it will be here eventually.

Ab08 - December 14, 2011 at 10:56pm

they said that about the unlock for the 4....

Alex - December 14, 2011 at 6:54pm

But a new iOS update will be released in a day so this jailbreak will never be released as they try to update it for the new update and when they are done with that a new update will yet again be released and so the jailbreak will have to be updated and so on and so forth. I don't even want to think about what's going on with the iPhone 4s jailbreak. I would pay to support the developers if it wasn't always like this. Heck, I would even pay FOR a jailbreak.

Thunderbyte - December 14, 2011 at 7:53pm

If you are silly enough to just hop on every update when it comes out, a Jailbreak is nothing for you. Independently of what Apple releases, it makes most sense to stay on 5.0.1 for the time being.

Thunderbyte - December 14, 2011 at 8:36pm

I don't know your problem, but it must be serious... Oh man. Stay calm and breathe... Of course Apple will release 5.1 sooner or later (Beta 2 and counting). If they say the JB is for 5.0.1,then that is the version to stay on. It MIGHT be that the JB also works on 5.1 (if published after 5.1), but it could also very well be that the bug will be fixed with 5.1 independently from the JB revealing it. For me, it doesn't matter which version it is, as long as the JB is available for SOME iOS5 version, iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

raja - December 15, 2011 at 4:19am

Agree,i just waiting for ios 5.0.when they can jailbreak ios 5.0 untethere may be will easy to jb newer ios.on A4 and A5.but im so sad there is no more from GEOHOTZ n COMEX,because we know they are good exploit and opener for all jailbreaker.

Pete - December 14, 2011 at 6:44pm

Are you repeating news now?

Frank - December 14, 2011 at 7:26pm

Read before you comment.

This is getting old. Release the jailbreak instead of playing with people.

Tom - December 14, 2011 at 6:43pm

Yea yea right sure he did.... He trying to get people to buy him an iPad 2 and iPhone 4s that's all, cause he said he doesnt own them. If you got it release it already and I don't get the waiting of release of 5.1 cause apple will patch it for the 5.2.

vinod - December 14, 2011 at 6:18pm

sweeet............... hoping to see it soon.... but i guess you should wait till they release 5.1 this will avoid apple to patch.... all the best for ur 4s and ipad 2 jailbreak... waiting to buy 4s only after jailbreak is available
