It took a few attempts but I was able to get this to work and I see a blank (white) icon for Cydia which does not run (looks like it attempts to but then nothing).

Try restarting the iphone, if that doesnt remedy it, then Perform the jailbreak again

Hey. i succesfully jailbreak, BUT I GOT A PROBLEM with my carrier. my phone does not find my carrier. this options doesnt even apears in Settings. (usually its in the first part of settings, AirPlane Mode, Wi-fi , Notification service, and CARRIER). I put the mobile on airplane mode then switch it again ,it searches for service for 3 seconds then sais: NO SERVICE. I estart it ,did anything I could..I got same problem. I will try to re-Jailbreak it again....to see if problem will fix. but if someone knows this & can help me..pls let me know.thx!

GOt the same problem. Jailbreak seemd to work fine, but phone can't find any carrier and the option is gone from the settings menu. Sometimes it shows up but not always. WHen it does and I set it to manual I get the message "can't load list"

You should click on Extras > Custom IPSW (make sure that you have downloaded the original ISO 5.0.1 if now, go to www.jailbreakmatrix.com and look for the firmware) - then browse the original IPSW then a new IPSW should be created named "NO_BB_iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw" - put your phone in DFU mode - open itunes - hold shift and click restore - locate the NO_BB_iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw file and you should be able to update it. This method will preserve your baseband.

@enes: are yours iphone4 is JB before?if yes, please open cydia before do restore from Itunes. Cydia will save shsh 5.0.1.look at front page of cydia.if done, close cydia and you can do steps from this tutorial.

Works a treat but still have to boot tethered to use cydia. Cydia just crashes if not booted tethered. Is it me or have i missed something?

I did it like in the vid, & it works fine... no tethred no nothing. cydia works great (tethred)etc. my problem is my phone does not see my service, my carrier....

hey, when i need to preserve baseband do i first make a custom IPSW with redsnow 0.9.10b1, then put iphone to pwned dfu mode and then restore in itunes and after that JB with redsnow ?

thats exactly how i did it, and it worked.. i am still on 1.59 baseband on my iphone 4

But when i tried this, itunes got error

download a program called iREB-r4 it will put ur phone in dfu mode and then u can launch itunes and try good luck

tried with iReb, but itunes again gives me error (3194), in apple.com it means that: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above. i have the latest version of itunes. how can i shift+restore it then ?

if u r supposed to unlock your phone, then u need to install ultrasn0w from cydia, and then power off, and power back on... respring will not do anything after installing ultrasn02

I had same problem with redsn0w 3 times, then I restarted the computer and next time everything worked fine.

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4, on ios 4.2.1. If I upgrade to 5.0.1 and then jailbreak it, will I keep all my cydia packages from my current jailbreak or will I lose everything and have to start over? Thanks in advance for the replies.

You can use Xbackup - its a really good utility, it even saves the configuration of my 12+ icon folders, and all my cydia sources. make sure you save the backup file using ifile rather than just trusting iTunes to save it while backing up tho. I made that mistake once. :S

works a treat, but, dont use aptbackup to reinstall apps on Cydia, as it goes into safe mode everytime you boot up......

Yeah, I had the same experience with the apple logo stuck in a loop. I had try to put the phone in DFU mode and jailbreak it again but no use. I am going to have to restore the phone to the factory.

I get some problems when i trying to restore my iphone, when i just plugin my iphone 4 and shift click on the restore botton i get error 21 , then i tryed to put the iphone into Pwned DFU mode, now i get pass the error 21 but now error 1600 comes. im upgrating from 4.3.1 jailbreaket and i dont need to unlock my iphone.

Clean your charging port with an old tooth brush, upgrade your iTunes, and reboot computer. Also run iTunes as admin if you have a PC that will usually fix that issue. Of it does not. Then download ireb from ih8sn0w.com. And use that to pawn the phone and then restore. After wards use redsnow to jailbreak hope that helps. Let me know I will do my best to monitor the thread :))

No "restore from backup" option after jb. Itunes only detect it as new phone. Anyone have the solution for this?

previous backup still available in apple computer folder and shows up in itunes list. but the "restore from backup" option is missing when i right click the iphone icon in itunes

Is anyone else having the Cydia Unable to load (time out) issue after jailbreak? I've restored to 5.0.1 iPhone 4 officially unlocked, did the jailbreak but I'm having this issue. I did it 2 times.

Well I've deleted the sources and now the homepage of cydia is appearing but now I'm trying to add new sources (going slow). I guess something is wrong with the jailbreak because I just installed installous now :D

@njoni: no..cydia is working..problem now is Cydia's server is overloaded..you can try again to add source later :) repo which work so far: hackulo, xsellize, sinful (just work a few hours ago).

Retry the process again and again until u got that right..It happend to me as well..Its nornal so dont worry

Just modify hosts file under c/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc remove 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com ( save file ) Make sure you run with administration previlage

ensure ur itunes is upgraded to the latest version.

Is this compatible with the semi tether? Does that need to be removed first and if so is it as easy as uninstalling via cydia? There are old links on google requiring ssh for that uninstall but I think that was before the Saurik update. Anyone try this?

Works now. I have downloaded the file.

I was stuck at Moving applications for a bit but then device rebooted and seems Normal. Will test this and compare to non JB ipod 4 checking stability and other issues.
