The comment regarding the 4, 4s, etc., is incorrect. Many people purchase older models when new ones are released. Samsung on the other hand has the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S, Focus, and NEXUS. So Samsung definitely has a few more models to ship out. Let's wait and see when the 5 is launched in all countries.

At the ATT store, they have all models in different price ranges. The fact is, it contradicts the statement that Apple only sells one single model. It is harder for Apple to create more than one series due to a lack of owning their own manufacturing factories. Regardless of capability, it was their marketing decision to have a single series in the smartphone market, and they are falling behind Samsung in volume. Regarding profit, Apple charges a premium compared to production costs. However, many people are moving to Samsung. With Windows 8 phones appearing, Apple will have to maintain its market position. I have an iPhone 5 and have no problem with it, but I may consider other trends like Android or Windows if popularity shifts.
