Apple has seeded a new beta of iOS 6.1 to developers for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It was widely expected that Apple would release either a GM or a fifth beta this weekend since the current fourth beta for 6.1 expires on Monday.

Developers can download the ipsw from the developer center. It should be available via Software Update shortly.

Apple is playing with all you guys who got new devices or upgraded to iOS 6 to delay the jailbreak from coming out, never before there was a Beta 5 it always went from beta 4 to gold master meaning ready for release! Im so happy i still got my iphone 4S and iPad 3 running 5.1.1 i really feel bad for you guys waiting longer then 6 month for a jailbreak i couldn't do that a idevice which is not jailborken is boring as hell.

That may be true or it could be they are having trouble fixing the bugs people are having with the current version. The jailbreak isn't as important as fixing the problem with the battery issue and wifi. So jump to conclusions if you like but remember not everyone is concerned with a jailbreak.

From Twitter: winocm ‏@winocm Looks like iOS 6.1b5 isn't a beta, it activates without developer registration and has no ReleaseType lockdown keys. Stefan Esser ‏@i0n1c Interesting thing about the iOS 6.1 Beta 5 release is that it has the build ID of a final, not that of a beta.
