I do understand the need for this type of software, but consider the reasons behind pirating as well, I'm South African, and the South African app store has about one tenth of the apps that are available in the US app store
I went the "more legit", though still not allowed way of opening a us store account, but the difficulties behind doing that are just as hectic, so i can completely sympathize with those who do go the "cracked app" route....
I do however appreciate that apps on cydia and installer are globally sold, so thanx for that ;)
this is a bit funny >)
if apple wants apps to be uncrackable, they would made it that way! no way, RipDEV is the main guy on the field :)
apps in appstore are cheap; 99.9% of the people who can buy them are buying them! the majority who are using cracked ones are people who CAN NOT buy them via itunes (there are so many countries where iPhone is not represented officially)
as with everything else, people who are using cracked stuff, they would mostly never give money for it or they just can not buy it because of technical barriers.
it applies to almost everything online: music, movies, apps...
so, not many companies will give money to this guy :)
I'm sure he would earn more if he give his apps for free and sell a bit of marketing space...
beans to rip dev.. although good for developers but i think rip devs motive are to make money for himself in first place............. anyways.. piracy is BAD !
I'm by no means defending RiP Dev but comparing cracked apps and unlocking/jailbreaking is not the same thing. Downloading cracked apps is illegal while unlocking/jailbreaking is perfectly fine, even if it does tee apple off. I don't blame developers for trying to protect their income
Rip-Dev is the biggest hypocrite alive. He is probably using cracked apps himself and now he wants to make all hackers suffer. He works on unlocked and jailbroken apps, isnt that against apple rules? Why would you be so gay? the hacker name will be scarred by this idiotic move.
so what if he worked on unlocked and jailbroken apps... ever heard of tap tap revolution, or my favorite game dactyl? Those were both on jailbroken ipods, and thats where people first fell in love with them. Why would apple prevent these people from making applications, it just gains them more money.
Yeah.. And devs who will trust RipDev are bound to be bent-over and thrown away as soon as the protection scheme stops making RipDev folks enough (a lot of) money. RipDev guys are the same as Unsanity folks, are the same as folks behind Installer, are the same as guys behind Pusher, which effectively unlocks iPhone and installs Installer (which allows users to download and install pirated software as well). Oh well :).
Better implement a protection yourself. Any average developer can do that.
