Samsung's Latest Ad Continues Mocking iPhone Owners [Video]

Posted May 3, 2013 at 9:40pm by
Samsung has posted a new ad for its Galaxy S4 that once again mocks Apple iPhone owners.

The ad takes place at a high school graduation pool party where the parents are amazed at the Galaxy's features and left feeling as though their devices are uncool.

Take a look below!

That's what I'm looking at doing, except for samsung. I'm holding out until the samsung comes out to see which I would prefer. I've been able to upgrade since January but the Icon just didn't seem worth it to me.

Samsung lags profusely the first time I bought one. So, nope, this ad will not convince me.

All these features are not practical at all in daily life, but some will definitely buy it and then disable these features first, especially if they cause lagging.

The larger screen might be for those who prefer more visibility. I will wait for the next iPhone before upgrading.

Yeh, we're shrinking technology not expanding it, sheesh. You don't see the iPhone increasing screen size do you?

Apple already controls the TV. Well, Apple TV, and DirecTV boxes, and Roku, and ... My current TV is just a nice big monitor for the Apple TV and DirecTV boxes. And my iPhone handles control of those, plus my iTunes feed into the Apple Express WiFi network and thus the stereo setup, and of course Airplay of any browser video to the TV ... I like Samsung LCD panels, but the Samsung intelligent connected TVs have a huge price premium over the equally nice displays by Sharp. The rest of the commercial is just handwaving, and Apple. Actually has published patents in those areas, so I hope Samsung kept the technology different enough to distinguish it. Apple may be slower to market, and may not lead in volume, but the dominate in revenue and especially profit in the areas they penetrate.

Yeah, I don't see how this add is putting down the iPhone specifically. I think certain people are getting fairly defensive here and I ask why?

Oh man samsung is so desperate to take on Apple !! This video is a complete mess. Features are good but please explain me why I should be using all those features in my everyday life. Plus is it really necessary to have those features in our phone I mean do we need a phone to control our TV don't we have remote control for that. Get this straight Mr.samsung, there is no way you can level up with Apple, that is just not your cup of tea.

1. What a totally uninspired ad and a total mess 2. THAT bling bling being advertised as advantages over the other smartphones, are the EXACT reasons I sold the Galaxy SIII 4G and got back to iPhone without a second thought. Samsung's take of of OS UI and functions is the nastiest thing I've layed my hands upon...

it is very nice, but first they have to explain me why do i need to use a Tile in my pocket to do and answer calls !!! there was i time, when the first mobile phone came to life, some people start to use a kind of a Brick on their pockets. Now the trend is to use a Tile ?!?!

Yes, Galaxy 4 is a korean product similar to all other korean products like Hyundai cars and others, who take care about the outer and cosmetics stuff and the core is bad. i wonder why the galaxy and other android product is so expensive and similar price of iPhone, while the parts quality is much less than iPhone parts, and they are getting free OS from google and they do not spend penny in developing the OS. then why there products are expensive? and the resell value is too low because they are not a genuine product as iPhone.

to be honest this is a great ad. I love my iphone 5 and it is amazing but for someone else this as will change their mind and it helps them to get GS 4 not iP5.. it does not matter whether these features are exist or not, it is matter how they use it against their rivals, and this is the only best samsung ad.

Dani
Dani - May 4, 2013 at 1:53pm
indeed. iPhone 5 is the best of the best. but I think stock iPhone 5 can not bet GS4 because its feature is limit. whereas jailbroken iphone 5 can bet all the smartphones on the market without any doubt.

Apple has been doing these ads for years to PC so Samsung is just giving apple a taste of their own medicine. Don't like it? Tough luck

Apple compared PCs with Macs in intelligent and funny and mostly very true ironical ways. They didn't mock the users. In fact even the PC character was so well scripted and played that people liked him more than the Mac character. It was Microsoft that started mocking users with there super stupid "cheaper PC" ads. At least Microsoft was able to learn. Unfortunately Samsung needs to continue this garbage with their "more bloatwared Phone" ads. Especially the gimmicks shown in this video are much more disturbing in practical use than they are helpful. The first thing you need to do is to turn most of them off. They were added just for the sake of marketing.

It is so sad that they boast of S4's features when all these features were copied from other Windows Phone, etc. Drama Shot is a copy of another android phone. Waving your hand to answer a call and browse picture is a technology from a cheap cellphone maker from China. When you boast of something, like what Apple does and did before, at least try to reimagine the ways and not totally copy the entire technology and use them to mock a great company. ;-)

Can your 13 MP Galaxy S4 create a 48MP panoramic picture and have it printed like a pro? That's the reimagination Apple made with Panorama. Can you pretend to be in your room where in fact you are in a busy street? That's the rethinking Apple made with noise cancellation. Try it for yourself and see the innovative and unseen features Apple added not as a gimmick but something useful for everyday life.
ismaeldeltoro
ismaeldeltoro - May 4, 2013 at 2:21am
And always remember, an obvious magic like those gimmicks Samsung added easily fades away. Unlike the unseen magic Apple does to their devices which eternally amazes users like us. "How Apple does this".

Nuck Chorris - May 4, 2013 at 5:18pm
First of all, get your facts straight. The iphone takes 28MP panoramic photos not 48MP. (By the way the S4 takes 60MP 360 degree pano photos) How many people in this forum do you think are printing out 28MP panoramic photos? Seems impractical and is left to pros with real cameras... Oh yeah, lets talk about imaginary features on a non existent phone... Well, when your phone is crippled by apple you'll be easily amazed by incremental features thst they decide you can have when they decide you can have them... The point is they have nothing new to introduce so they are presenting old features that other phones already have as something revolutionary and new. They prefer 3rd party devs to innovate so they can sit back and collect their 30 percent .

Well, are you aware that Samsung's wallpaper in Life Companion is a copied picture too? What do you expect from Samsung? Thanks for making time to read Apple website. A magic unseen is a magic that lasts. That's all. At least I have many lists of why I love Apple.

It's interesting on how I couldn't find not one article on Samsung copying the picture that you claim. But I did find some on apple stealing the iphone name from Linksys, the clock design was stolen from the Swiss Railway and they are currently being sued by Bose for copying their flat speaker design. I could go on and on but I don't want to further taint the love you have for your special device.

ismaeldeltoro - May 6, 2013 at 2:06am
Where is your proof about the 60 mp claim? I print mine! Because I never thought that I could create such beauty now that Apple refined a feature that has been 5 years ugly and gimmicky in other smartphones. Now panoramic pictures are printable! Another plus for iPhone! Nothing new, but refined and better. Can you print your 360 degree picture? That's a nonsense feature for now.

ismaeldeltoro - May 6, 2013 at 2:23am
Android phones have cool clock designs. Apple can create beautiful clock designs too! If I remember it right, Apple paid 21 million dollars so they can use the iconic design, i reiterate ICONIC design, of that particular Swiss Railway Clock. For a company who can design the best smartphones and laptops, I feel so special that they had to pay for 21 million dollars just to give me an iconic clock app in my iPad. (that is why there is no clock widget in iOS, they can never entrust their design team from third party designers) Apple is known for iDevices. Some companies try to use letter I in their product for they know that in the future, Apple will pay them hundred millions of dollars just for the name. Samsung SGS III had like 5 names for different carriers? Is that an insult to you that you use product with no known details and craftmanship. Everything about iPhone is paid for, for its customers.

A SBB rep said at the time that SBB was more interested in bringing clarity to where and how Apple could use the logo than in raking in cash. ”We’re rather proud that a brand as important as Apple is using our design,” she said in September.

This ad is very misleading ofcourse. It is sad, that there is no phone even nearly as good as the iphone.. In this chaotic (much used strategy when u want to mislead) ad, 2 functions are highlighted. The connection with samsung tv and Answering the phone with this stupid gesture (iphone had a sensor for years which could do this very easily but thankfully they do not come up with stupid 'features' like this.. Instead, it is used to lock the screen while calling and holding the phone by your head. The samsung OS is 7 GB large(!!!) all cluttered shit for the most part, options nobody should ever use. It is sad that samsung have an ad in which people are persuaded to think samsung IS cool. No it is not, maybe only for the Apple-haters (there is something to say for them, i agree). But up to this point; iphone excels at 99%, all important stuff on a phone: iphone is better at it. In every way. No phone is even close, which is bad because less innovation.
Milkman
Milkman - May 6, 2013 at 1:46am
Actually the sensor you're referring to is the proximity sensor which pretty much all smartphones have. The S4 has a gesture sensor (along with other new sensors that do other things) which your iphone does not have. Must be nice to live in your special little iphone bubble.
