A robber broke into a wireless store in Fairfax County and stole several iPhones, however during the process, he left his own Samsung Galaxy at the scene of the crime! Police simply traced the cell phone back to Travis Montgomery Snyder and arrested him -- according to the search warrant. Surveillance footage from DMW Wireless in the 7000 block of Spring Garden Drive also showed a man matching Snyder’s description, according to a search warrant.
Police were called to scene Feb. 19 for a report of an alarm. When they arrived, they found a smashed glass display case and missing iPhones, according to a search warrant. Snyder’s phone was found inside the front door of the store, under broken glass.
Police claim several iPhones were stolen and the glass was smashed when they arrived, and upon further inspection, saw Snyder's Samsung Galaxy under the front door.

It's isn't a robbery. It's a trade in. The cops failed to realize that. LOL.

At least he didn't get caught by leaving behind a BlackBerry. That would be hard to live down, even while sitting in jail.

This story does seem very unusual. There's been plenty of heists regarding B&E on Apple stores, and never has suspects "left" their personal phone at the scene. And about the life of crime, when it comes to theft of greater valued property...it's not their first time. A first timer would not dive into the deep end without testing the water with his toes. This robber was already in the life of crime. Apple's product did not drive him to become one, he was already one. Just my thought

Maybe the store wouldn't let him exchange his s3 for an iPhone, so he forcefully exchanged it (w/interest) lol
