New iOS 7 Bug Lets Anyone Make a Call From Your Locked iPhone [Video]

Posted September 21, 2013 at 3:56am by iClarified
A new bug has been discovered in iOS 7 that lets anyone make a call from your iPhone even if you've set a lockscreen passcode, reports Andy Greenberg for Forbes.

The bug was discovered by Karam Daoud and it couldn't be any simpler.

All you have to do is dial a number from the emergency call screen and keep tapping the call button until you cause a crash which displays the Apple logo. Once that happens, your iPhone will call the number in the background and when the app returns the call duration will be displayed.

We've confirmed this works as described; however, we had to repeatedly tap the Call button for about 30 seconds.

This is the second security related bug that has been discovered in iOS 7 in past few days. Jose Rodriguez found the first bug which lets you bypass the lockscreen passcode to access all the photos on an iOS device and send emails and tweets.

Take a look at the video demonstration below...

I tried it in my iphone 5 and it worked! unfortunately! it was not so easy as in the video though. it required after 5 times button hit to stop for 2 sec and do it again for 2-3 times and then it called!

Sad to report it works like a charm.... How disappointing to see Apple release something so shabby.

Why would you need to do that ? If Siri is activated you can just say call 'number' and it will call it anyways... Nothing special about that.

I think everyone doesn't see the point. It's not the point that it allows someone to make a call. It's the point that a call 'can' be made. It's a bug that wasn't picked up during Beta testing. Apple will be happy as people are bug finding for free lol.

It doesn't exactly look good to release 7.0.1 within days after releasing 7.0.

The phone didn't crash. Apple doesn't make trash.

I'm not sure why that really matters in the first place?? If a person steals an iPhone, they're more than likely wanting to sell it or try to use it themselves, they're not going to want a phone only to make a phone call after after to repeatedly press the call button on the emergency -ESPECIALLY when they can just hook the phone to iTunes and do a complete restore and use it as a brand new phone. I think the pass code lock is more useful for having nosey people around trying to read your private stuff, like a mom, boyfriend/girlfriend, brother/sister, etc.

i dont know wether you saying the truth or faking, but therese a high possiblity the a jailbreak will be release on ios 7 specially with this kind of a bug, such kind of a bug has been found in one of the earlierr versions of ios and that led to a jailbreak ,so! keeping my fingers crossed! :D
