Microsoft is reportedly building a platform to extend Xbox Live functionality to iOS and Android games, reports The Verge.
Xbox Live is used by Windows and Xbox games for achievements, friend lists, and matches. Apparently, the Microsoft is looking to push Xbox Live cross-platform 'in a big way'.
A recent Microsoft job posting reveals some details about the plan.
"We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android."
In order to get developers on-board, Microsoft will reportedly have fewer restrictions and offer better tools to help developers integrate the functionality into their games.
