A Look at the UI of OS X Yosemite vs. OS X Mavericks

Posted June 6, 2014 at 2:44pm by iClarified
Pixelapse has posted a look at the new UI in OS X Yosemite versus the current OS X Mavericks UI.

Not surprisingly, Apple updated its desktop OS to match iOS 7's design language. The new OS X now embodies a brighter and flatter styling, coupled with icon updates, font changes, and translucent materials.

Check out some of the interface comparison graphics below or hit the link for more. Also, we'll be posting some more detailed information on the changes in Yosemite. You can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS to be updated when we do.

I am tired of inflated new egos, Yosemite sucks I don't need the improvement!! I just do not need a headache in ten to twelve minutes of using it. Period

Yosemite is the beastly OS X I have ever used. It's a guru gem of the past versions I have used. I bet you can't last using it all day like me for $100.

This redesign looks like garbage. I'm sick of this flat design aesthetic everyone is adapting for their OS styles, and I'm sick of companies trying to make everything more like their stupid mobile OSes. if I want to experience iOS7, I have an iPod touch for that.

UI on Yosemite is not a good experience at all. I don't like the calculator app (its look and feel). Still have to explore and see how the experience is with regard to other functionality. Doesn't look like much has been done from functionality point of view. May be I am wrong. Actually, I hope I am wrong!

You are. Not much in functionality? They made products more connected than ever, iCloud is a big boost, Safari doesn't have so much clutter, and you get more things to do in most apps.

Tell it to the rumors.

Totally agree, Apple wasted to much time for a complete redesign, instead of improving the actual one.

Totally disagree, apple put enough effort to satisfy everyone along with every fix they quickly brought to osx, I'm running 10.10 beta and hell safari is faster than light.

Apple introduced some amazing features in the new OS, I am not saying they didn't do anything, I guess I have to wait and try the new OS, but seriously the folders are too blurry, and I was upset they didn't introduce the windows like resizing behavior (when dragging to the edges)

You already can resize. Not really a big deal to upset yourself.

If you look closely, windows 8 colors has no shade, no glow effects, nothing compared to osx, look in safari, it has a glow in the middle and a few shades, same with messages, the contrast, etc.

New folder are not easy for the eyes, that's my personal impression. Apple could have done something, I am sure I am not the only one waiting for it, which is resizing, microsoft introduced it first on windows seven, thats such a helpful feature, now you have to pay to get the feature, What the he.. Apple is waiting for to introduce it. I am tired each time to wait for it for each new OS release.

I think they should base everything off of the new Finder and Calculator icons.

Microsoft was accused of being a monopoly remember? They were the ones who would charge hundreds for a windows upgrade and force people to use IE, so stop posting crap.

What is so bad about this, and what does this have to do with Microsoft shit? All the did was make one colored tiles without a glow or shade effect, that's exactly how windows 1 is, it's like an evolution, babies are windows one, as it ages it became an adult by 7 then had a baby, it became 8, then so forth, but yes Microsoft did in fact do that but it doesn't mean anyone else did point it out.

The one know should stay. They shouldn't change it.

As long as they can add the old style to the customization list of the dock and add one for apps as well, this will satisfy everyone.

I was hoping they'd do that too K, but I don't see it happening. I'm not too crazy about the dock myself but the icons look amazing in my opinion. If anything you can always manually change the dock or icons manually with terminal and with the icons picture files. We've been able to do it for years.
