Apple Announces 2014 Retail Store Summer Camp For Kids Focused on Storytelling and Filmmaking

Apple has announced their annual summer camp at retail stores for kids eight to twelve years old. This year, campers will focus on filmmaking with iMovie and storytelling with iBooks Author through various workshops. Classes will run for three days, and each workshop will be approximately 90 minutes.

Join us at Apple Camp for three-day workshops where kids ages 8 to 12 bring their imaginations to life. They'll learn to make movies or create interactive books complete with their own illustrations and sound effects. And each workshop ends with the Apple Camp Showcase so campers can share their finished projects.

Campers will learn everything they need to create their own movies. They'll storyboard ideas, shoot video, create an original soundtrack in GarageBand on an iPad, and then edit it all together in iMovie on a Mac.

Campers will create their own interactive books. They'll draw illustrations using an iPad, then add sound effects and Multi-Touch features using iBooks Author on a Mac.

Campers will use Macs to edit in iMovie and create content with iBooks Author. They will also be using iPads to make original soundtracks with GarageBand. iPads will also be used to draw illustrations for their story on iBooks.

The camp is free, but a parent/guardian must accompany the child. Classes start in July, but you must first register on Apple's site for a spot. Currently registration is open for Canadian and US customers, but if you live outside of these countries, you can sign-up to be notified when registration is open in your region.
