Now that the thieves know about this tracking feature they will probably just turn the phone off to avoid being tracked and then reinstall the OS when they get home.

The only fool proof way Apple could do this is: 1. Have Mobile Me be able to send a LOCK DOWN command so that the thief can not power down the phone. This provides tracking time and the ability to send the alarm command (Or a call to the phone) once the tracker is in the vicinity. 2. The LOCK DOWN command should also turn the phone's volume to maximum so that the thief is not able to silence the alarm or ringer. Initiating the alarm command (Or calling the phone) is critical to locate the thief since there could be more than one person in the location that the GPS has indicated. 3. The ability to log into Mobile Me from another Iphone so that the owner can do the tracking and alarming. In pursuit with a macbook to do these tasks will obviously slow down the pursuit and cause major obstructions which will either cause the tracker to get run over or robbed again.

Just noticed the "READ MORE" link actually links to the rest of the story. I missed it because it was placed under the tutorial link which is where I stopped to read the article thinking it continues the tutorial. The "READ MORE" should be placed above the tutorial link to avoid confusion.
