An iPhone 6 prototype in factory test mode has surfaced for sale on eBay. According to the poster, kimberlyk1018, the phone was accidentally sent to him/her upon Verizon contract renewal.
Here's the full description:
--- For sale is a brand new never used Apple iPhone 6 Prototype. Apple does NOT let these phones out of their possession yet I was accidentally sent one upon renewing my contract. As you can see from the photos, iOS8 has not been placed on this device, rather it is in the true developer mode. There are no FCC markings on the rear of the device or a model number. This is the real deal!!! The lightening port is red which is a sure sign of a prototype. This device is being sold as is. I cannot guarantee that it will make calls or that the camera will work. However I can guarantee you that the device is a 64gb iPhone 6 which was sent to me from Verizon. The device comes with the box, charger, headphones and wall charger as well as all the paperwork. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. This is a once in a life time opportunity for you to take a part of. ***Free Shipping is only included if price exceeds $4,000.*** Buyer must have a PayPal verified address and be seller protection eligible. If you would would like any additional photos please let me know.
I am also giving a 110% guarantee on this being an authentic Apple prototype device. ---
The device appears to be loaded with various diagnostic utilities that match up with utilities seen on previously leaked Apple devices.
Assuming this is a legitimate leak, Apple will likely have eBay shut down the auction shortly. Check it out while you still can! The auction is already up to $3,200 with almost 5 days left.
As of 8:01pm EST, the auction was ended with a top bid of $100,100... I don't know wether this was by the seller's choice or Apple sent the Men In Black to clean this up and "nuralize" the natives at E'bay... Time will tell...
Hmmm.... I'm suspicious. She's only guaranteeing 110% that it's real? Something smells fishy. I would not settle for anything less than a 117.3% guarantee. LOL
Yeah, that's crazy. But I looked at the bidders...most with '0' feedback or 'Private' (same one with '0' feedback). They won't get paid, I guarantee that. People right now are just bidding for the shit of it. And, eBay won't do anything but give a mark to their account (doesn't matter if it's a '0' account, does it?), as well as them having to relist it, in which case, yeah again, Apple will shut that shit down by that time. They should have just done a 'Buy it Now' like I did when I got one of the Steve Jobs figurines a few years ago & run with the $.
I got last year one like this, it was iPhone 5S I received sealed in a box from my carrier. This phone don't have iOS installed only the SwitchBoard hardware testing firmware. you can put it in DFU mode, restore it and he will work normally. Nothing special with this phone I think it's an pre-installed phone and not a prototype. I guess all iPhones are tested before getting there iOS installed and latter on get the serial marked on the alum body.
You're exactly right Leo. Someone probably put it in a box before iOS could fully loaded and writing put on the back. And that red thing is to protect the lightning port from getting scratched during testing. Nothing special. True Apple prototypes have always had many X's along the back where the serial numbers go. Whomevers buying this is getting ripped off.
Now you realized how you admit the attempts and lies aren't what you expected now especially when you copied OS X after 9 failed yet never released? You are now catching up! LAWL
