PanguTeam Issues Update on iOS 8 Jailbreak

PanguTeam Issues Update on iOS 8 Jailbreak

Posted October 25, 2014 at 3:56pm by iClarified
The PanguTeam has issued an update on the status of its jailbreak for iOS 8 - 8.1. Earlier this week a Windows only Pangu8 jailbreak utility was released for download.

As you may know, the release does not include Cydia and is very unstable. Despite the numerous tutorials that have popped up on other sites, we strongly recommend that unless you're a developer, you hold off until a safe version is released, at which point iClarified will post tutorials.

The PanguTeam has confirmed to iClarified that it is hard at work trying to resolve bugs with the jailbreak. Here's the latest status update from the team:

We are working with @saurik to make Cydia stable asap. Also we are fixing bugs include Safari and iMessage problems. Please wait ...

To prepare you device for the upcoming release, you can restore or update to iOS 8.1 using iTunes; rather than a software update.

Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

did you upgrade to 8.1 via OTA ? if you do, you may have problem jailbreak using pangu8 try to reboot you phone, or if it still doesn't work try to refresh using iTunes (restore)

Not sure what the stats are for piracy in the jailbreak community. Initially I tried but eventually felt it was not worth it. I buy all my tweaks and apps on Cydia.

apple is so smart...apple want you to update everyone to ios 8.1. im sure apple give to the hackers the exploits to jailbreak ios 8.1 and they said wait ,when they get their desire % of ios 8.1 updated then the jailbreak will release and leater ofcourse apple will release an ios 8.2 and there wont be any jailbreak. ;) let me knwo if im wrong :P

I think you are 99.9% true.
tmel4198
tmel4198 - October 27, 2014 at 1:46pm
That is very incorrect. Almost 50% of people who own iPhones in the world are jailbroken. Apple leaves bugs on purpose because many people wont buy iPhones unless they can jailbreak and then it releases bug fixes so that the jailbreak is patched and the security flaws aren't there for normal users. Its a game, it always has been and it always will. Apple isn't stupid, half the employees probably jailbreak as well. Its all business

dk2013 - October 27, 2014 at 2:42pm
I really really really find that statistic doubtful. Where do you get 50% from? I'd be surprised if it was more than 5%, shocked if it was more than 10%.

Nick, what's the point of your comment... that if you did it, that means everyone else is doing it too? You can't go by what your friends, or people on this website, do to determine a statistical significance, dude. Everybody here is yapping about jb this and jb that, but the truth is that jailbroken devices are a tiny minority. Period. Most people are just fine with the iPhone the way it is, wouldn't know how to jb it if you put a gun to their head, and don't need/want any of the tweaks that jb offers. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that jb's are out there, but don't put things out of perspective.

Not everyone who jailbreaks their phone to customize are pirates. Dont paint with such a broad brush when you dont understand the topic.

I understand completely. Without piracy, jailbreak community would die. It really is that simple.

You guys who are one of several thousand jailbreaking for legitimate reasons seriously think that you represent the majority of jailbreakers? You are seriously deluding yourselves. There are several hundred million users who jailbreak solely to pirate software. That is the simple reality of the jailbreak scene.

Are you speaking out of experience? Having a strong belief in an idea only means one thing, you have partake in the piracy. It's very common with android for the OS is technically pirated from the an open source code then rooted by Google for commercial use.

Nope. Just quoting Musclenerd. I expect he has a pretty good handle on these things.

That is not the truth. I jailbreak my phone since the very first jailbreak that ever existed. I did it then because there was no AppStore or any way to put software or tweaks on the phone and the dev team seen then that it was a necessity. Since then a large portion of the features most ordinary iOS users would say are essential and well liked were adopted by Apple from jailbreak tweaks that existed sometimes as long as years before Apple seen the need. As a perfect example, I recall watching a video where Steve Jobs said that the iPhone would never have copy and paste because Apple felt that there was no fluid and natural way to implement it into iOS. I had copy and paste on my phone the and had for nearly a year prior to his statement. In fact, the way Apple eventually did implement copy and paste was a straight ditto ripoff of the jailbreak and to this day is exactly how it looked long before Apple had it in iOS. Today I still jailbreak for that same reason. There are tweets and software enhancements available that simple make iOS better. Much better. As en example, one jailbreak that I simply cannot be without is "Action Menu" with "Plus pack". I store favorites in there that I use as much as 50+ times a day as standard replies to emails. Do I pirate? Occasionally. I don't have a whole lot of apps on my phone anyway but the ones I have that are worth any money I have paid for once I tried them and determined they were something I wanted. Trial periods is a feature that has been long missing from iOS and AppStore and is long overdue when you consider the mountains of garbage in the AppStore. As an example, I have HippoRemote. I pirated it before I purchased it and it is an awesome useful app so I purchased it. Jailbreaking is great and is the essence of creativity in the iOS community. I for one and so greatful for those who dedicate their time and efforts to such endeavours. And to those who write the great tweaks and software for Cydia. Apple says "this app doesn't qualify to be in the App Store"? Fu@k em! Put it on Cydia then.

if you keep the pp25 with the jailbreak youll have appsync and a store icon installed on your device so if you want to get paid apps for free keep the pp25 marked.

Holy read the article? I knew what they meant by reading the title because if it was an actual update it would say "Pangu updated to version 1.x including Cydia" or something along the lines. If you cant SSH and figure out how to add Cydia and other shit with the jailbreak, you either: A. Shouldnt be jailbreaking, or B. Use this website called "google" :) its 2014 people.
tmel4198
tmel4198 - October 25, 2014 at 10:13pm
What does reiterating anything have to do with anything when i was speaking english to begin with. My point was that the people dont read articles or learn to understand anything with jailbreaking are always the ones who are complaining. Your last statement about an "update" is the least relevant and also doesn't make any sense whatsoever because i dont have an "update" since you stated that it was mine. But, you obviously understand trolling. How is not understanding how to SSH Cydia substrate not relevant...thats what this articles statement is coming from because they are working on a fix for Pangu and Cydia. Your retaliation comment was a waste of your time. "Lmao"
curtixman
curtixman - October 25, 2014 at 11:58pm
Its hilarious how that went straight over your head. "because i dont have an "update"". I fully realize that you didn't have an update. You made a "statement". Same as Pangu Team did. Not an update as iClarfied suggests. A statement. That made my point perfectly as you so cluelessly demonstrated. There is a different between a statement and an update and iClatified knew that very well when they chose the title of this article.

Jack black
Jack black - October 25, 2014 at 8:37pm
All of these points have some weight : pointing out to iclarified that should have used the word "statement" versus "update", the fact that the tag line could be misleading and the need for iclarified to attract readers. It could be said that all of these are correct. However, the need to be incessantly childish and insult one another is not.
stevenlacross
stevenlacross - October 25, 2014 at 8:34pm
Not being able to read... This has nothing to do with reading, it has to do with the way normal people think and the title for this articles makes most people think that the issued an update to the jailbreak, not issued a statement about how they are updating the jailbreak.
Headbanger
Headbanger - October 26, 2014 at 1:35am
So you're saying most people are illiterate? The word update is perfectly fine. They updated the status on jailbreak not the jailbreak itself
