Apple has just released iOS 8.1.1, and as we previously reported, the latest firmware by Apple patches the Pangu iOS 8 jailbreak.
It is unclear when, or if, we will see another iOS 8 jailbreak, so we strongly recommend that you update to iOS 8.1 and jailbreak while you still can. The signing window could close at any minute, but we'll update this post once we get confirmation that Apple is no longer signing iOS 8.1. Once Apple stops allowing restores for iOS 8.1, users will be forced to restore to iOS 8.1.1.
Download the correct iOS 8.1 firmware link from our firmware pages (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), then using iTunes, restore to the firmware file you downloaded (Windows, Mac).
Once you have restored to iOS 8.1, you can jailbreak using Pangu, regardless of whether or not Apple is signing iOS 8.1. Instructions on how to jailbreak your device can be found using our wizard.

I think they stopped signing 8.1 actually. I just tried to restore an iphone 5 and it didn't work, error 4013, but then again this iphone 5 could be messed up, i'm going to try 8.1.1 next to see what happens.

Apple is still signing 8.1, maybe they are going to forever sign it like they are with 4.1, and maybe they will always sign 12.1 as well when that come out in 4 years.

I just got my first iphone (an iphone 6) after years of being an android guy. I unwittingly updated to ios 8.1.1...is there any way to downgrade in order to jailbreak? Or do I just get to wait until the development community finds an exploit?

they are still signing iOS 8.1. it might be possible to put your phone in DFU mode and restore to 8.1, but i am not 100% sure. Once they stop signing the old iOS, it will be impossible.

Is there any possibility of bricking my phone? I have rooted all my android devices (Samsung made it pretty hard, though!). But the apple thing is new to me and I am a little hesitant.

When a Jailbreak for a iOS device comes out, it has been thoroughly tested on all compatible devices. they would not release something that will cause harm to the Jail-breaking community. i have been jailbreaking my iOS devices since ipod touch 2, and i have never bricked my devices. you can always restore in DFU mode. i have bricked andriod phones before, they can be complicated. apple jailbreaks are one-click apps, very easy to use. i just finished upgrading my ipad2 to 8.1 while apple is still signing. i jail broke it in less than a min. you first step is to try to downgrade to 8.1, but i am not 100% sure it will work. if you can, then you can jail break.. you can always return the phone, then on the next day return to get another phone from the store. you have 30 days... hehe

I've downgraded iPhones before from higher iOS's to lower ones without a problem, iOS 8.0.1 to 8.0 for example. As long as you have the ispw(8.1) for your phone model downloaded and you hold down shift while clicking on restore(phone does have to be in DFU mode - youtube that) and then navigating to said ispw. Then itunes will start the restore with asking apple if it can have the encrytion keys for your specific device and specific ios(8.1 - hence the signing older ios's or not) and then if apple gives itunes the keys it'll go and completly wipe your device and put it down to 8.1
Now you can't restore from an icloud backup from 8.1.1 to 8.1, they won't show up in 8.1 because of how apple created the backups and wanting everyone to update to the latest and "greatest"

QUOTED "Once you have restored to iOS 8.1, you can jailbreak using Pangu, regardless of whether or not Apple is signing iOS 8.1" SO WHAT IS THE HURRY IF WE CAN STILL JAILBREAK EVEN IF APPLE IS NOT SIGNING ANYMORE. Please explain

vanimox - November 18, 2014 at 11:16pm
Because if you have not upgraded to the appropriate firmware before apple stops signing the firmware, you will NOT beable to update to anything other than the newest firmware which is not jail breakable.

There's people who bought the original iphone 5S on ios 7.0.0 and they never updated their phones. apple isn't signing 7.1.2 anymore but they can still jailbreak 7.0.0 because the jailbreak for that ios works on all devices running 7.0.0-7.1.2 Same thing goes for anyone who is on 8.0-8.1 if you get your device on 8.1 now and then turn it off and put it into a dresser drawer for 2 years, you'll be able to turn it back on then jailbreak it even though apple is currently signing ios 10.2.3. Basically the jailbreak doesn't care about what apple is signing, it only cares about what's on your device currently, and as long as you haven't updated it then it can jailbreak it.
