If you cannot find oktoprep, add http://hackthatphone.com/1.xml to your sources in installer app and oktoprep will show up in your packages.. I had to redo the downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak etc. and then install oktoprep. After this, your "update" to 1.1.2 via itunes may give you a "1015" error - but no worries, just launch independence again and then run the jailbreak 1.1.2 file. Then you should be able to apply the Geohot unlock from the iclarified sources in installer app. Good luck.

Update: I really could skip 1.1.2 and directly update from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3. I just had to install BSDsubsystem and openSSH before going to 1.1.3, and afterwards I needed to install a new installer.app through the Terminal.

I always get an error (1015) when trying to upgrate to 1.1.2 (with OTB 1.1.3 iPhone). Any idea? I also tried to skip 1.1.2 and instead go from 1.1.1 directly to 1.1.3, but then I had problems that the installer does not want to install anything anymore. Anybody knows if skipping 1.1.2 would really hurt that much? Thx

Success!!!!! Thanks Pal. Follow Pal's steps to successfully complete. After running jailbreak.jar and it completes successfully iphone is frozen with the itunes logo on it (no slide to unlock or for emergency call appears) and itunes opens automatically and detects iphone in recovery mode. Just close itunes and launch independence again and give it a sec and watch the status bar at the bottom. It will reboot iphone and success..."slide to unlock" Also in the very beginning if itunes doesnt recognize iphone automatically you have to reinstall itunes. i had 7.5 reinstalled 7.6 and it then detected iphone.

Ooooops! I found out a way to do it! Definitively OktoPrep is not installed with the AppsSnapp 3.0 What I did is the following: 1) I installed OktoPrep myself. Don't forget to press home button to finish installation. 2) Update it to 1.1.2. 3) Run jailbreak.jar following the tutorial. 4) At the end of the process, I got my Iphone into recovery mode, then I quitted iTunes and I ran Independence for a second time to exit recovery mode. After some time and screen movement in the Iphone I saw the friendly "slide to unlock". I did this with two different iPhones and it succesed with both.

This tutorial says before step one on How to Update to 1.1.2: "At this point normally we would have installed OktoPrep from Installer (Tweaks 1.1.1 Category). The new jailbreakme.com is supposed to do this for you now. I've heard a couple reports of the site not doing it so I've left this in the tutorial for now" Is there any way to check if OktoPrep is installed? Apparently it is not instaled becasue when I run jailbreak.jar inmediatly it gives message error: "This utility can only be used if you have already run OktoPrep before updating to 1.1.2" As OktoPrep is in the Install folder of Installer I riun it and, then, I followed steps One and Two of the updating tutorial. When jailbreak.jar is almost finished the Ipnohe didn't reboot and turn back to recovery mode. On Friday I jailbroke and actvated two Iphones 1.1.2 O.T.B. following the tutorial and the previous version of AppSnapp (updating to v.3.0 after the jailbreaking), so installing OktoPrep myself. On Saturday I tried with another one (in the same condictions, with the same software, with the same computer, in the same room) and failed as I told above. My conclusion is that something is wrong with the new version of AppSnapp. Obviously the mistake could be mine, but I don't find it. Please is there anyway to contact with AppSnapp developers to check this? Thank U for your help.

Jonas, I pretty much say the same! The first time I unlocked my iBrick easily, everything worked great, but after a second restore due to certain issues, I can not get my iphone to upgrade fro 1.1.1 to 1.1.2. It reverse to the restore mode. So far, no way to overcome the probleme, tried everything once, twice, thousand times. Any idea?

Jonas Quit iTunes do not unplugg iPhone. Then go to step nine, ten and probably my new step eleven. Don't run iTunes until you got out of restore mode.

Missing step! After step ten my iPhone didn't unlock (got out of restore mode). Opening the iNdependence-program once again solved the problem. But first quit iTunes. By the way - the red slider "slide to power off" did not show up for me (And iNdependence as has a new release for iTunes 7.6.) I'm running: osX 10.4.11 iTunes 7.6 iPhone shipped with 1.1.2 from week 43

Problem at step 8!!! Great guide... I've managed to jailbreak my friends iPhone out of the box, it now works wonderfully with a Stealth Sim. I then bought one myself that was allready jailbroken... As I didn't get it to work with my StealthSim i decided to reset the phone and do it myself... Already done it... What can go wrong? Well, everything!!!! At step 8, that ends with "Quit iTunes once the update is complete. " The phone goes in to restore mode again, and iTunes tells me the same thing... It's the update to 1.1.2 that seems to be the problem. As of now i've got an iBrick. Can anyone help me out here!!!

I've gotten so far and I'm proud of my self. I just bought my iphone yesterday OTB and currently on 1.1.2. I just did the firmware to 1.1.1 following the instructions. I'm currently in Independence and it's waiting for the connection with the iphone. It's been roughly 5 minutes and nothing yet. I'm still in the screen with the itunes logo and the usb cord. Any help would be appreciated. Also if anybody is willing to help via AIM please let me know. The faster the responses the faster I can get this done.... Thanks. Danny

Worked like a charm. Thank you. It is not clear to me if my old ATT SIM card should work or not. I know the phone is not unlocked for ANYsim but i thought i might have a shot with my currently in use on a different phone ATT wireless SIM card. I have had it since before ATT became cingular. Any clarification would be appreciated. -Bubba
