The ban was first noticed by Chris Welch of The Verge. Apple posted it on WWDC's 'More' details page.
In addition, you may not use selfie sticks or similar monopods within Moscone West or Yerba Buena Gardens.
Before worrying about bringing your selfie stick to WWDC, you'll need to get a ticket first. Developers can apply for tickets via the WWDC website (developer.apple.com/wwdc/tickets) now through Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m. PDT. Tickets will be issued to attendees through a random selection process.
I still say there's too much emphasis on safety everywhere you go. Life entails risk and nobody's going to live forever anyway. So big deal if it happens sooner. It's all the same in the end.
Ok. The real reason selfie sticks are banned is because it may get in the way of people taking pictures of the keynote or the camera men filming it, not to mention others may steal it from you and may whack you while in the keynote.
Why are these sticks being banned in so many places all of a sudden? I've never used one but I don't see what the problem is. Seems like just part of a trend towards excessive restrictions on personal freedoms.
If you're somewhere and you see the sticks waving around and don't like it then leave or else just watch where you're going. I'm sure in most cases you can see the things and avoig getting hit. If you're too slow, well tough luck. I'm just sick of this whole security/safety culture and would rather see things go back to the way they were 100 years ago or maybe even more like 10000 years ago.
What's wrong with having to watch where the hell you're going? And you can take that whole culture of lawyers and lawsuits and shove that too. You got a beef with someone? Settle it with a good fight or a duel.
