Cursor Launches Native iOS App for Managing AI Coding Agents on the Go

The AI-assisted code editor Cursor is expanding to mobile with a new native iOS app. Available now in public beta, it lets developers launch, monitor, and direct autonomous coding agents directly from an iPhone.
The release aims to untether software engineers from their desks. Users can choose from various frontier AI models, initiate tasks using voice input or standard slash commands, and let an agent begin working immediately. For agents already running on a local Mac or PC, the app includes a Remote Control feature that lets users continue steering projects from their phone, provided the host computer remains awake.
Cloud agents operate asynchronously within isolated virtual machines equipped with full development environments. This allows them to test, verify, and demonstrate code independently over longer periods. Users can easily transition workloads between local and cloud environments, sending a local plan to a cloud agent for heavier processing or bringing an active session back to a desktop to test changes before merging.
To keep users informed without requiring them to stay in the app, Cursor uses iOS Live Activities and push notifications. Users receive notifications when an agent requires input, completes a task, or has a pull request ready for review. From the app, they can review generated artifacts such as demos, screenshots, and logs, inspect code diffs, leave follow-up instructions, and merge pull requests without returning to their desktop.
The launch comes as AI coding assistants continue to evolve rapidly. Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, was recently acquired by SpaceX in a massive $60 billion deal. Meanwhile, Apple has been building similar capabilities into its own ecosystem, recently introducing agentic coding tools directly within Xcode 27. Cursor for iOS is available to download from the App Store for users on paid plans, with the company offering a temporary 75 percent discount on Composer 2.5 mobile runs through July 5.
