Apple has boosted the number of scholarships it offers to the 2015 Worldwide Developers Conference to 350, reports Re/code.
The Cupertino technology giant said it will extend as many as 350 scholarships to students age 13 and older and members of organizations working to promote science, technology, engineering and math education for young women, blacks and Latinos. The National Society of Black Engineers, App Camp for Girls and La TechLa are among 20 organizations whose members would be eligible for a scholarship.
Last year, Apple offered 200 scholarships to WWDC.
To be eligible for a WWDC Scholarship, you must be 13 years of age or older, a full or part-time student, or a member/alumni of one of a select group of STEM organizations.
Applying
To be considered for a WWDC 2015 Scholarship, build and submit an app that showcases your creativity and technical skills. Your Mac app or iOS app must be written in Objective-C and Swift, or written entirely in Swift. You will need to also include proof of enrollment from your school or proof of membership from one of the listed STEM organizations.
Submissions
You can submit your scholarship application Wednesday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until Sunday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. PDT. All applicants will be notified of their status by Friday, May 8. If you are 13-17 years old, your parent or guardian will need to register and share their developer account with you. They will be able to provide your name as the attendee during registration.
