Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke to the The Independent about the company's new iPad Pro ahead of its release this week.
The larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro can be used with two new accessories. The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard Cover. Notably, Cook doesn't view the Apple Pencil as a traditional stylus.
“Well, we didn’t really do a stylus, we did a Pencil. The traditional stylus is fat, it has really bad latency so you’re sketching here and it’s filling the line in somewhere behind. You can’t sketch with something like that, you need something that mimics the look and feel of the pencil itself or you’re not going to replace it. We’re not trying to replace finger touch, we’re complementing it with the Pencil.”
Cook also revealed that he no longer travels with a MacBook but uses the iPad Pro instead partly because of the new keyboard cover.
Cook says it’s different from rival keyboards because with none of those would you say it “came from the same parent” as the tablet itself.
“Now all of a sudden you have a keyboard that has been perfectly designed for the iPad, it’s integrated and then you’ve got the software with split view and it’s inherently very productive. I’m travelling with the iPad Pro and other than the iPhone it’s the only product I’ve got.”
Apple announced the iPad Pro will go on sale on Wednesday online and in stores later this week. You can check out some impressions of the new device from designers here.

Didn't the late Jobs hate stylus being incorporated on Apple devices that's why he made iPhone/Pads w/o stylus? IIRC... So Cook gonna break this and somehow make stylus's for Apple devices specifically pads?

IOW: It's going to became a stylus when iOS 11 comes out and it will lag like crazy...

OSX is must have for a Pro-device... Otherwise its just clunky iOS-device that for my personal use in its best would be just a sketch book. The most expensive sketch book out there :/
Btw. Is that Apple Warch 2 he is wearing, looks thinner and wider than Apple Watch 1 plus the crown is different!!!

iOS isn't clunky when it has jailbreak. Why not do that?

it this used like an iPhone? no. Does it even look like a phone despite size? no. It has most features from OS X and there are mobile browsers that have on screen mouse like puffin does.

If only it ran OS X! It can't replace my MacBook until it runs OS X. I need to run VM's on it too.
