iPhone SE to Look 'Almost Exactly the Same' as the iPhone 5S?

Posted March 18, 2016 at 3:14pm by
A last minute check with sources reveals that the iPhone SE will look 'almost exactly the same' as the iPhone 5S, reports 9to5Mac.

This means the phone will include a boxier, not curved, design complete with rounded volume buttons, a power button on the top, a headphone jack, speaker, and microphone on the bottom, and a back with a metal center and a glass bottom and top. We previously reported that the only easily apparent difference would be the product’s edges. There have been mixed reports regarding the look of the new edges, and sources say that while the front edges could be “very slightly” curved, the potential change is not noticeable. Regardless, the iPhone SE’s edges will be less shiny and likely lose the shiny mirror finish that helped make the iPhone 5s prone to scratches.

The new 4-inch iPhone is believed to feature a 12MP camera, an A9 chip, NFC, a similar form factor to the iPhone 5s, and slightly curved glass like the iPhone 6, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, Live Photos support, a slightly larger 1642 mAh battery, and storage capacities of 16GB and 64GB. The device is not expected to have support for 3D Touch.

Apple will likely unveil the device at its 'Let Us Loop You In' event on March 21st. Below you can see the three major rumored designs with the one predicted by 9to5Mac sources on the left. Which do you like best?

5S and 5 was the best design ever but it won't be surprising if they used a design from 2 years ago. Apple needs to start innovating! Imo there has been zero innovation since the 5 and 5S and I've owned every iPhone since the 4 series, I'm bored of apple officially. Hopefully they do something cool with the iPhone 7 but then again no headphone jack? I use my headphone jack every damn day!! Until it's not an inconvenience for me I will never buy a phone without a headphone jack. Hello Galaxy S7 edge here I come.

Apple continues to innovate since the 5(s) that competition continues to copy from Apple. The iPad Pro with Apple pencil even surpassed Wacom tablet by how much you can do with pencil. The quote used for the 6s was 'the only thing that changed is EVERYTHING' as if Apple has worked their ass off more than ever introducing more than one feature in s models compared to past iPhones. After switching to Cook, there has been much of a change other than appearance and just introducing one feature.

The 5 & 5S is the best design of the iPhone to date.

Good idea. The 5s design is gorgeous.

I don't care what the change is even if the back uses different material and shape, no 4-inch, no upgrade. I am kind of hoping that it will be less scratchy as mentioned in the last part of the whole paragraph.

This phone will sell lots. The small size and big stats will convert a lot of 4s/5s owners to switch.

They should name the event 'Let Us Loop You In'.

Then that would mean that what they say to be in the event is a lie and would be wrong. They wouldn't do such thing like that even the slightest bit.

Jack I agree with you, as an iPhone user since the 4 all the way to the 6S Apple has officially become ridiculously lacking in comparison to a lot of android options the last year and a half.
