Someone out there who could please help ... I'd be really glad! I used blackra1n as directed and got the message that phone was jailbroken. But when I inserted an MTN Cameroon sim, this did not work. I then thought maybe I should start all over so I uninstalled blackrain, but now when I re install it I do not see the icon so I cant work on the phone. This is on 3GS 16GB .... anyone can help out?

you need to carefully read the instruction step by step.. here what you can do to get your phone jailbreak and unlock.. connect your iphone with itune.. hold shift key and use your mouse het restore button on the itune look for firmware for your iphone. then let ti restore. once it completed. use blackra1n to jailbreak.. you will see blackra1n icon on your phone. open blackrain on your iphone.. and install cydia.. and sn0w... once install complete will take from 1 to 5 min. for the phone able to pickup your carrier signal.. incase if not. restart your iphone willl work after than...

I have just used the blackrain to jailbreak my iphone. Its works, but my bluetooth will not function properly. It just keeps searching for devices. Does anyone know how to fix this or does any have the same issue?

I tried the blackrain jail brake and it worked..... kind of. The iphone 2G with 3.1.2 04.05.04 firmware does not recognize my sim. i can use the wifi but thats it. Any suggestions?

you need to install and bootneuter, it should be in cydia, it will unlock your 2g iphone so you can use other sim cards. blackra1n does not unlock 2g iphones.

I found out that the GPS problem was caused only by balckra1n jailbreak. I restored my iPhone and GPS was working fine, but right after the jailbreak it wasn't working anymore. Only thing that helped me with non-working GPS was complete restore with PwnageTool. does antone know why my youtube cant work after the black rain update

This is still a tethered jailbreak. Do not turn off or let your battery die people or else you will have to reconnect it to your computer and run blackra1n again to unlock your phone. Other than that, it works great!

I think tether only for IpodTuch. for iphone should be untether.. I have 3GS and I let phone die after battery ran out. plug to wall charger 5 mins later phone boot up fine no problem at all

it depends also whether u have a older bootrom or the new bootrom.. I read it and many sites stated it only happen to 3gs with the latest bootrom. Anyway thats what i found out from other sites. I can be wrong. :)

Hi everyone, I have an official iPhone 3.1.12 and 05.11.07 base band. Wanted to jailbreak for fun customization. It worked perfectly and smoothly. BlackRa1n is really the simpliest jailbreak/unlock software on the place. I have lost my WIFI though... it can not detect any WIFI anymore.... any solution guys?

It's me again. I found 2 fixes. After several re-try and restart it finally managed to re-activae my WIFI: Broken Wi-Fi Fix #1: There is an easy fix for all of this. All you have to do is to go to Settings>General>Reset> and hit Reset Network Settings. After resetting the network settings. Then reboot your phone and you should be fine. Push Notifications Fix #2: Launch the cydia and add the following repo “ http://cydia.iphoneil.net/ ” then search for “ pushfix “ and install this patch. By doing this your push notification bug caused by blackra1n will be patched. Try resetting your Network Settings in the Settings.app

No the only update that patches the exploitation of any jailbreak is on ios 6.1.3

Wow this is easy. My phone comes with 3.0.1, it doesn't work. After upgrading to 3.1.2, it works flawlessly. So easy.

OK SO I HAD BLACK SCREEN PROBLEM/WAITING TO REBOOT I had the same problem. I just got it jail broken about 3 minutes ago. I first went into iTunes and under EDIT went to Preferences. Then to Devices and clicked the box prevent from auto syncing. Then closed itunes and went to taskmanager. I closed iTunes helper and iPodhelper(not sure whatit is exactly but itstarts with iPOD). Then went to the website and proceeded to "Make it Ra1n" then it went to a black screen. I then did it again while on the black screen. I clicked "Make it Ra1n" again and ran the program again. it took about 15 seconds and the guy appeared on my phone. Then it rebooted and I had the Blackra1n app. I did this with itunes CLOSED.

I've managed to jailbreak the phone, installed openSSH from cydia with no problem then I tried installing WinterBoard application from cydia which requires me to restart the phone and the screen shows that i have to connect to itunes. error came when it tried to connect to my iphone asking me to restore. So now i'm back to point one. Anybody having the same problem ? Does that means I can't restart my phone with this jailbreak software ?

i managed at the last stage our install 'rock'. but downloading was really slow. i wanted to start over again, thus i 'uninstall' blackra1n application. 2 problems occurred. 1. i repeated the earlier process,, but i cannot see blackra1n icon anymore. 2. everytime i reboot my iphone, it goes to recovery. i need to use blackra1n to boot it so that i can use my normal phone applications. anyone out there , pls pls pls help.

Guys, did anyone use Diskaid before. After I updated my iphone 2g to 3.1.2 via blackra1in , I plug my iphone to the pc and open diskaid to transfer some files to one of the root folders. But I was not able to do that because diskaid displayed a message that my iphone was not a jailbroken iphone? Why is that? Its already jailbroken using the latest blackra1n method.

I have jailbroken a new 32Gb 3GS and it's now jailbroken but tethered (i.e. I have to run blackra1n everytime it reboots). Is Geohot working on an untethered version of this excellent jailbreak tool? If so, when will it be released?

I have a 3Gs ver 3.1. I ran Blackrain, connected to Wifi to install Cydia,Rock and snOw. I then did a restore. The wifi is no longer working. I turn it on however it does find any of the available networks, even if I try manually configure them? Any ideas?

My issues with T mobile - T zone plan 1) bought Iphone 3g factory reset from other seller..basband 5.11.7, and iphone os version 3.1 2) Use blcakra1n to jailbreak and unlock..everything went smoot with windows vista.. 3) Try Tmobile simcard. use apc.tombile.com as APN and email, wifi and internet work perfect. 5) When I connect this on my "Imac"- It asked if I want to restore with "ipod touch" back up. 6) I select yes..restore with pics, notes,preference went smoot. but none of my apps was there.. 7) I make sure that that phone has correct APN settings..,phone is still unlocked, incoming/outgoing call from t mobile work fine... BUT internet, email DO NOT WORK... Error "could not activate Cellular data network .. you are not subscribed to a cellular data network".. I try resetting netowork settings multiple time... Still not working.. Help Appreciated in advance ---I am thinking to "mast rest to factory resseting" and try Blackra1n again... Would that work...?

go to settings, the network. enter this info: CELLULAR DATA APN epc.tmobile.com MMS epc.tmobile.com MMSC mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wpaenc turn off your iphone, wait 1 min, then turn it on and you are good to go

The problem is whit new bootloader Blackra1 always you make Jailbreak and unlock after you turn off phone and power on phone go into recvoery mode.

actualy what im doing is im really going to pay the 150 tomorrow for deposit to at&t but they are going to send me a Samsung Magnet Quick for free so they are so crazy. once i get the phone with the sim card, i will call them and tell them i have an iphone and i want to add the data service, so i will activate the iphone and finally i will be able to turn the iphone on, then i can unlock it and jailbreak so i can use it with tmobile, after that i will use all the minutes from att for one entire month then i will sell the free phone i got from them in 150 or 100, which actually is 199 and of course i will not pay any bill they send me in the future, so they want to f@ck with me ok, bring it on. i did think about this and it is a nice plan, some guy call john is going to call me tomorrow at 10:30 to make the deal, hoo and im getting free overnight shipping. so think about it my friend. you could do the same to them, they only want to get money from us, but that's not gonna happen with me. i do really hope for a solution soon for this issue.

Dariel, I had a similar situation (and I'm not with AT&T either). I don't really know what to do either, but what I do know is that it isn't permanent. There is either a solution right now, or there will be in a matter of weeks or days. All we need to do is wait for it and keep asking around. Someone would be able to help for sure. Wait before you pay any money to T-Mobile or anyone, it won't hurt waiting a couple more days instead of paying $150 for nothing! If I find a way to fix my phone, I'll definitely post the solution here, no doubt! Good luck with yours too.

Dariel, That sounds like you have a plan. But hey, last night I tried it and blackra1n worked totally! It was as smooth as the tutorial showed. I'm serious, all I did different was turn off "iTunesHelper", and it worked like a charm. I realized that the key is to keep trying in different ways and it'll work for sure. My WiFi worked fine, but I had Push and YouTube issues, but that was fixed within 2 mins through Cydia. So mine's good to go, I'm using it right now. But good luck with ur plan bud, hope it works out for u.

bro i'am really happy for you believe me, but trust me i have tried everything for the last week, i have download custom repairs and everything its out here to get that problem solve but man i dont know wha im doing wrong, i finally think its my phone that is broken, please tell me how u did it and what version you download and from where, im not pushing you but if i dont get a response within 3 hrs and 2 minutes the att guy is going to call me hahahaha and im gonna have to go with my plan cause iam really tired of waiting with my iphone off. once again im happy do did it my man, you have a good one

I'm using an iPhone 3G (OS 2.2, BB 2.28), JAILBROKEN & unlocked before. I accidentally updated to 3.1.2 using iTunes (not a custom ipsw). Now my phone is in recovery mode and can only be used to make emergency calls. I've tried using blackra1n, but the iphone just stays on the same recovery screen (and I don't see GeoHot's picture). btw, I'm a windows user. Please help!!

I think u should restore your iphone to clean 3.1.2 firmware using itunes. click shift + restore button, then choose the 3.1.2firmware file to restore.(google to find the 3.1.2firmware dl). Then rerun blackrain n blacksnow again. shld work i guess. :)

Thanks Dimebolt. I tried reinstalling 3.1.2 again through iTunes (just last night). And I tried to run blackra1n, but it doesn't do anything whatsoever. The iPhone stays on recover mode, and blackra1n stays as it is too. Should I wait longer perhaps? (I waited for a few minutes, no doubt). Also, should I (at any point) close iTunes, or can I leave it open? Thanks again.

Dimebolt, it worked! it finally worked for me :) All I did different really was close iTunesHelper before Restoring with the custom IPSW, and everything went well there on. Thanks for your help though, I appreciate it :)

Yes, once you jailbreak using blackra1n, you'll have an icon on your iPhone that says "blackra1n". Open that (let your phone connect to WiFi) and load Cydia and Sn0w. Then it'll automatically Unlock your phone (meaning you can use it with ANY phone carrier). Hope this helps.

I have a iPhone 1st Gen that had been upgraded to 3.1.2 and is now locked. I have tried to use Blackra1n but the device will not unlock. Blacra1n tells me the phone is unlocked and to wait for reboot but when it reboots after the blackrain screens I get the usb to iTunes screen again and I can only make emergency calls. Help anyone???

the best thing is to read through peoples comments on here starting at the bottom!!! but if its too hard, start blackrain, wait for make it rain to appear, then turn iphone off, turn it back on while holding the home button, keep holding til the process kis finished. this is the only way older iphones will jailbreak and you will notice after turning it on while holding home, that geo;s face appears in about 5seconds. BUT this does NOT unlock it only jailbreaks! you need to use blacksn0w

Just Jailbroke a 3G 3.1.2 and intalled Cydia,Rock.....I am on AT&T w/o the Data Plan.And w/ unlocked iphone. But still trying to find out why can't i send MMS even though I got the Unlimited TXT Plan. I still get Error "try again" Message.

For those with a 3G getting a black screen stuck on when it’s supposed to reboot to Geoff’s pic. I found that leaving itunes open, and killing off “ituneshelper.exe” in the task manager made mine go through first try, as it’s supposed to. Also copied/ran it in the local disk, as admin, but w/o itunes open it wouldn’t go AT ALL past the black screen, regardless of how I ran it, or how many times, would just sit there for a long time on bs, and eventually just turn off.
