Hacker Releases 'GasGauge' 0Day Exploit for iOS 9.3.3b and Lower

Hacker Releases 'GasGauge' 0Day Exploit for iOS 9.3.3b and Lower

Posted June 16, 2016 at 3:59am by iClarified
Luca Todesco, also known as qwertyoruiop, has released a 0day exploit for iOS 9.3.3b and lower after discovering that his exploit no longer works in iOS 10.

"So- apple killed both of my jailbreak chains. gasgauge was in one", tweeted Todesco.

Dubbed 'GasGauge', the double free race condition exploit needs a sandbox escape and any uid. It gives you arbitrary alloc and free primitives.

"iOS 10 went hard on security", says Todesco. "Basically all the techniques I relied on are broken. Need to start from scratch."

While this exploit isn't a full jailbreak release, it could be used by another developer to produce a jailbreak for those on iOS 9.3.3b or lower.

"I hope it makes anyone realize how hard it actually is to pull this stuff on, considering it's just 1/4th of the deal. Respect devs."

This exploit is only half the work. There still needs further development to get this thing released. If someone could do it, it would have been released already. Trust me, devs workin hard for payoff should be relatively soon we should see something. But definitely not like next week.....gonna take a bit more time

Yeah, it would be a real shame if you actually had to pay for the apps that you use.

Agree with you. If the app is really good and worth paying for it, I always buy it. I use the advantage of my jailbroken devices to install cracked apps only to try them out. Unfortunately, there are only a few apps that have either a free or a trial version and even though you can't really evaluate the quality as a free version very often is a crap. And sone apps are insanely overpriced and are not worth paying that high price, for example - C.Anatomy $50!!!. You really gonna use it as a reference may be just a few times, and after all, you can find exact same info and images on Google. Why that app is $50??? Like I said, I always support developers if their apps are good and useful even if the app is 100% free. Sorry, but I've lost a lot of money on shitty apps because you never know if it's good or garbage, and to get your money back is virtually impossible.
