The new LTE Apple Watch won't have an 'obvious change' to form factor, according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The main selling point of the device will be its cellular connectivity.

Kuo believes the smartwatch will keep its two 38mm and 42mm sizes and be offered with and without LTE, similar to the iPad.

Shipments of the new Apple Watch are estimated to reach 8-9 million units in the second half of 2017 with the LTE model accounting for 35-40% of shipments. In total, Apple is expected to sell 17.5-18 million units this year.

Kuo says that to drive major growth Apple will need to introduce a radical form factor change and more medical and health features.

Notably, a 'little birdie' recently told Daring Fireball's John Gruber that the new Apple Watch would have an 'all-new form factor', but he warned that the "tidbit came from an unconfirmed little birdie, though, so I wouldn’t bet the house on it."
