Apple has revealed that it will cost $279 to repair or replace a damaged HomePod if the device is out of warranty.
There's no charge if the issue is covered under warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law. If your issue isn't covered, you'll pay an out-of-warranty service fee.
The HomePod, which was released today, costs $349. If you require shipping for your HomePod repair that's an additional $19.95 fee and it brings the total to $298.95, nearly the cost of a new device.

Whoa... such crazy pricing for a repair, or a replacement. I've never minded smart speakers at all, and the HomePod makes no difference to me. I know for a fact that Apple's warranties are the best, but this is ridiculous...

So does that mean it’s not a repair they just replace it? I can’t see any other reason it would be almost as much as a new one(anyone who has had an out of warranty Apple Watch replaced and paid can tell you this)

I have almost all premium Apple products... but this is a bummer! Get a Sonos Play 5 and a Google Home or any Echo Dot... then you have a premium solution. This is just a glance of what this is supposed to be. Steve Jobs, rest in peace, you don't deserve to see this.
