Samsung to Begin OLED Panel Production for New iPhone X and iPhone X Plus in May?

Samsung is preparing to begin OLED panel production for the new iPhone X and iPhone X Plus in May, reports UDN.

The supply chain revealed that Samsung was previously affected by the downturn in sales of iPhone X. The OLED production line was almost completely shut down for several months. It was generally believed that Samsung would not restart its OLED production line until the end of June or the beginning of the third quarter, but now it started in May. , and plans to double production capacity in June.

The company is purportedly planning to produce 2-3 million panels in May and 4-6 million in June. UDN notes that it's quite unusual for production to begin this early but suggests that Apple may be looking to avoid a delay in the release of its flagship device this year. DigiTimes also claims that Apple is planning to trial production of its 2018 devices to avoid the launch delay it encountered last year.

Reiterating previous reports, the site expects Apple to unveil three new iPhones in 2018. A 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X2 that will cost $899, a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus that will cost $999, and a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone at $799.
