WhatsApp has been updated with the ability preview media from within notifications. Now when receiving a notification with an image or GIF, you can 3D Touch for swipe then tap View to preview it.

Notably, WhatsApp is also flagging suspicious links. A suspicious link indicator appears when a link contains a combination of characters that is considered unusual. Spammers may use these character combinations to trick you into tapping on links that appear to go to a legitimate website, but actually take you to a malicious site.
