Apple is expected to unveil a redesigned 16-inch MacBook in October which will be the highest priced notebook ever sold by the company, reports UDN.

The new flagship laptop will be assembled by Quanta and Hon Hai (Foxconn) and allegedly uses a 16-inch LCD from LG Display rather than OLED. Supply chain sources say its maximum resolution will be 3072x1920, higher than the current 2880x1800 for the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro.

The supply chain believes that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro hardware specifications will be more powerful, and the price is expected to be "quite expensive", which will be higher than the current MacBook Pro. Currently on the Apple official website in Taiwan, the highest-end MacBook Pro is priced at nearly 90,000 yuan ($13,000 USD).

It's estimated that the price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro will start at above $2,900 USD and could reach 100,000 yuan ($14,500 USD) when fully loaded.

Sources believe that Apple could unveil the MacBook at a press event in October alongside a new 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
