The Microsoft Courier will reportedly function as a 'digital journal' and is designed to be portable with dimensions a lot smaller than expected.
Engadget has learned that the device will be under an inch thick, weigh a little over a pound, and be about the size of a 5x7 photo when closed.
Apparently the Courier is built on Tegra 2 and runs on the same OS as the Zune HD. Its interface is built around a pen which is used to draw and write. Handwriting recognition can convert pen input to digital text and a corresponding web site will provide access to everything entered into the Courier.
Microsoft is also planning to include a camera and a headphone jack for media playback. In addition, the company expects the Courier to function as e-book reader and is developing a dedicated ecosystem centered around this.
No word on price yet but a launch date is rumored for "Q3 / Q4".
