Apple Watch Series 7 to Feature Smaller S7 Chip, Larger Battery, Flat Edge Design [Report]

A new report from UDN says the next generation Apple Watch will feature a smaller S7 SiP, larger battery, and a flat edge design.

The Apple Watch Series 7 will likely be unveiled alongside the new iPhone in September. It's said to adopt AES's double-sided system-in-package (SiP) to reduce the size of the processor. This additional space could be occupied by a larger battery or with new sensors.

Previously, Apple had aimed to put a body temperature sensor in this year's model; however, that appears to have been pushed back to next year. The blood sugar sensor for monitoring glucose levels is still several years away.


Recently, the industry has also circulated the design details of the Apple Watch 7. The most eye-catching is that it is expected to adopt ASE’s double-sided system-in-package (SiP) to reduce the size of the processor with this technology, and the space released will be equipped with a larger capacity. Battery, or with other sensors, the new design will allow Apple Watch 7 to maintain the size of the previous generation.

According to UDN, the Apple Watch could come in a new green color and be updated with a flat edge design similar to the iPhone 12 and other recent Apple products. A narrower frame will allow for an increase in screen size and UWB support will enable improved Find My support.

Internally, with the right-angle design of the screen, Apple Watch 7 uses a narrower frame to increase the screen size. In addition, rumored that the new generation of watches will update the ultra-wideband technology (UWB) function, allowing it to interact with more smart devices and connect more smart home devices.
