Redmond startup, SlothMedia, continues its barrage into the educational market releasing its 3rd iPhone application targeted specifically at Educators and Schools. KosmicMath - Education edition entered the iTunes AppStore on 3-31-2010, but already its sales outpace the KosmicMath - FREE and Family editions, perhaps signaling that educators see the Apple iPhone, iPod-Touch and now the iPad as formidable educational platforms.
KosmicMath-Education edition is a first of a kind iPhone OS based application targeting wide spread adoption and usage within the classroom and school systems. KosmicMath is a space exploration game that reinforces mathematical scope and sequence requirements covering Preschool through 4th grade. Hosted on hand held computing platforms developed by Apple, the application is multi-user; thus giving educators great flexibility in their deployment options. The education edition can be deployed within a school system in a variety of configurations ranging from a 1:1 student to device ratio, or a more typical classroom learning POD deployment where (N) devices are shared amongst a classroom.
To help navigate the selection of a player, the education edition employes a simple classroom construct. At startup, students are presented a list of "classrooms" by name or by teachers name. Students select their classroom, KosmicMath downloads the current student roster for that classroom and displays only the pupils associated with that teacher or classroom name. Students select their player name to start or continue their Kosmic mission. Student statistics are maintained separately for each student and are automatically synchronized into a global database for Educator monitoring and reporting.
Classroom teachers are given access to a WEB portal which provides them with powerful analysis tools to view each student or classroom's progress, identify areas of improvement and to assign problem tests or drills. For technology driven classroom instruction and lower grade mathematical drills, KosmicMath Education establishes a foothold into the classroom, and extends that experience to the home edition as well. Educators can allow their student data to be accessed from any licensed KosmicMath application; whether at home or in the school system. Student statistics from all versions are dynamically synchronized and aggregated back into to the Teachers WEB portal - giving Educators a watchful eye over KosmicMath's usage and student progress.
The application shares its roots with KosmicMath-Family edition - a five user license of KosmicMath for home usage. However, KosmicMath Education is not limited to a pre-defined number of players. Education editions downloaded from iTunes are licensed for 1 player and all 5 grade levels: preschool through forth grade. Unlike other KosmicMath products, the Education edition can be licensed for 100s of students outside of the Apple iTunes AppStore by contacting SlothMedia. Educator license packs for typical classrooms sizes and school wide deployments are available.
Like it's siblings, KosmicMath Education edition is a space exploration game that reinforces mathematical scope and sequence requirements covering Preschool through 4th grade. Players are urged to demonstrate mastery over basic mathematical operations as they travel through the solar system collecting alien trophies and visiting NASA web sites. Players will be mesmerized by the stunning graphics and audio-making KosmicMath fun while educational. Mission logs showing player performance and proficiency are charted on a WEB portal.
Educators: KosmicMath is much more than mathematics game; it is an advanced scope and sequence reinforcement platform that monitors player response gathering over 170 data points per play session. Player performance data is stored locally and synchronized into a central data repository via WIFI/cellular networks if enabled. Players, educators and parents may view and analyze mission or drill data stored on the KosmicMath Web Portal to track achievements and quickly identify problem areas. Access to the KosmicMath Web Portal is included in the KosmicMath license for 12 months.
KosmicMath takes the drudgery of performance tracking and beautifies it with click-and-drag drill down WEB reporting tools enabled with every purchase. Parent's no longer have to feel guilty about giving their iPhone / iPod / iPAD device to their child wondering if they are getting any value out of it. KosmicMath gathers and reports to the parents and educators each player's performance indicators including: mission scores and drill / test results (along with original test questions and student answers) in a format that is both familiar and refreshed using WEB 2.0 technologies.
Your student's performance is made visible to you via email reports, detailed tabular data reports and advanced graphical summarization tools made available on the KosmicMath WEB portal. Performance graphs show each student's mathematical proficiency by operand and within their expected scope and sequence learning requirement for each grade level. Proficiency graphs show the student's mastery as they hone in on faster response times with higher accuracy. KosmicMath redefines grade school mathematics mastery by making it fun to "Reach for the Stars."
Pricing and Availability: KosmicMath-Education 1.0 is $14.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category.
