Google has officially rolled out a major update to Snapseed for iPhone, adding a built-in camera mode that brings manual shooting controls and real-time film emulation to the long-running photo editor.
The new Snapseed camera features a dedicated "Pro" toggle that unlocks manual ISO, shutter speed, and focus controls. Users can switch between Auto and manual adjustments using an on-screen dial, giving the app functionality that goes beyond simple post-processing.
Snapseed also integrates its saved "Looks" and a new set of retro film-inspired presets directly into the viewfinder. Styles modeled after classic Kodak, Fuji, Agfa, Polaroid, and Technicolor stocks can be previewed live while composing a shot.
Google says the camera is built around a non-destructive workflow. Every photo retains a full editing stack, allowing adjustments made at capture to be modified or removed later. Not all effects render live in the viewfinder, but changes can be refined after the image is saved.
The update adds faster access as well. The Snapseed camera can be launched from a Lock Screen widget, Control Center, or the Camera Control button on supported devices. Users can also personalize the interface with different color themes.
Snapseed 3.15.0 is available for free on the App Store.
