Apple Officially Releases macOS 27 Golden Gate [Download]

Apple has officially released macOS 27 Golden Gate for compatible Macs, bringing Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence features, expanded parental controls, and a collection of performance and usability improvements. The update follows more than three months of beta testing after it was previewed at WWDC26 in June.



Siri AI is rolling out as a beta in English and can use personal context from messages, emails, photos, and other sources to help find information. It also gains onscreen awareness, broader world knowledge, web access for current information, and more actions across apps. Visual Intelligence lets Mac users select something onscreen with a keyboard shortcut and ask Siri about it, while Write with Siri can generate or refine text anywhere Writing Tools are available. A dedicated Siri app keeps conversation history synchronized across a user's devices through iCloud.


Apple Intelligence adds Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an upgraded Clean Up tool in Photos. Image Playground can generate images in a wider range of styles, including photorealistic results, while generated or edited images carry identifying metadata.



Safari can automatically organize tabs by topic, alert users when a webpage changes, and create custom extensions from a description. Search has also been revised across Spotlight, Photos, and Mail, with a new ranking system intended to surface more relevant Top Hits in Mail.



The parental-control changes include a simpler setup flow for child accounts, the ability to choose which apps a child can access, and Ask to Browse approval requests for new websites. Communication Safety now detects gore and violent content as well as nudity in shared images and videos. A redesigned Screen Time view shows average usage and frequently used apps, while Time Allowances and Schedules give parents more control over app categories and access throughout the day.

Mac performance changes include quicker AirDrop transfers, faster starts for iCloud Photos uploads, smoother transitions between Spaces and Mission Control, and faster network file browsing. Liquid Glass also gets a new slider that ranges from a clearer appearance to a more tinted presentation, accompanied by sharper app icons.



iCloud Shared Albums now support full-resolution photos and videos and make it easier for Android and Windows users to join and contribute. Apple Maps adds an enhanced Flyover experience that combines aerial imagery with AI for more detailed visuals.

Apple Intelligence is supported on MacBook Neo with A18 Pro and Macs with M1 or later. Siri AI is initially available in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support coming in October. Mac users in the European Union can access Siri AI when their device is set to a supported language, while Siri AI and the other new Apple Intelligence features are not available in China. Some server-based Apple Intelligence features are subject to daily usage limits.

The update can be installed by opening System Settings, selecting General, and choosing Software Update.
