Multi-Tasking Can Be Easily Enabled on the iPhone 3G

Multi-tasking can be easily enabled on the iPhone 3G by setting a flag in the capabilities plist, according to a tweet by cdevwill.

wow looks like multitasking can be enabled on the 3G if you just set multitasking=TRUE on the capabilities plist in SB (N82AP.plist)

This doesn't come as much of a surprise. Apple doesn't want multi-tasking to run less than optimally. Disabling it is most likely a choice made to keep the device from running slower. (and of course to sell more iphones...)

You\'re all idiots. 2G users: your phone is going to be 3 years old by the time OS 4 comes out. 3 years. Do you understand how long that is in the mobile industry? To Jose: Comparing a PC to a phone... smart. If you bought your iPhone 3G one year ago, you\'re an idiot. Everyone knew there was gonna be one out in June. And flash DOESN\'T work \"fine\" on OSX, genius. It works, but it certainly doesn\'t work fine. They\'re supporting the 3GS (a 1 year old device), mostly supporting the 3G (a 2 year old device). What the hell are you all on? The 3G physically can\'t support it while maintaining a reasonably speedy device. It only has 128mb of RAM, the 3GS has 256. The 3G only has a 400 MHz processor, the 3GS has 600. Let me know next time you buy a computer and 1 year later the processor increases 50%. Don\'t get me wrong, I\'m disappointed multitasking isn\'t natively supported by 3G, but to say that they\'re way off base not having it working on a 2 year old device? Come on now! I doubt we\'re gonna see 2 year old Windows Mobile devices running WM7!

But what about my iPod Mini! Why can\'t I have MMS on it! Apple is greedy!

2g and 3g iphone uses the same exact processing power. so comparing the age of the phone doesnt make any sense.

I\'ll concede on the point about the 2G. I had no idea they used the same RAM, CPU, etc. It is strange that they\'re not upgrading 2G users AT ALL, but I could follow the logic that everyone who bought a 2G new should be able to upgrade to the new one when it comes out. Still doesn\'t excuse it all that much. But to be frank, you\'re not really missing out on much since 2G users wouldn\'t get multitasking either if 3G users aren\'t. Let\'s be honest though, if you were in Apple\'s shoes and you had customers with a phone containing 3 year old technology, would you not try and entice them out of it? If you bought a 2G after the 3G came out, you put yourself in this position.

Tom, Go fuck yourself. Get off your high horse and stop insulting people and their opinions. It\'s fanboys like you that give other apple users a bad name. Asshole!
