Apple's new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may feature a new 'Action' button that replaces the Mute switch. Leaker @analyst941, predicts that the button will be used to power off, force restart, and take photos.

Action Button:
I have some (small) info regarding the action button on iPhone 15 Pro.

Firstly, the volume up + power button will no longer be used to power off the device, or "force-restart" it. The sequence remains, but combination will be changed to action + power button.

Furthermore, within the camera app, the action button (formally; mute switch) will replace the volume up button for taking a photo.

Action button use in Camera:
– Light press: auto-focuses the camera
– Hard press: captures photo
– Hard, Long-hold press: captures/records video

The action button will purportedly be force sensitive so it can recognize whether you're tapping it, lightly pressing it, or hard pressing.

Several leakers have predicted that Apple has abandoned plans for solid state volume buttons on the iPhone15 Pro; however, @analyst941 maintains that core development for the buttons is still on track.

I'll let you know if/when I hear changes about the capacitive buttons. but as of right now, I don't understand how so many leakers agree they are delayed till 2024. They are on track, at least within core development, so.. A major design change like this is, eh, unprecedented.
