Apple is planning to bring the 5x optical zoom lens from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the iPhone 16 Pro, according to a new report from TrendForce.

Although the Smartphone Camera Lens Market was down 8.9% last year, TrendForce predicts a rebound of 3.8% for 2024 to reach approximately 4.22 billion units. A large percentage of that market will be captured by Samsung's S24 series.

When it comes to camera specs, the phone is powered by the innovative ProVisual Engine algorithm, promises to revolutionize photo quality by individually optimizing objects within images, enhancing clarity, and significantly stabilizing images by reducing noise and shake.

The research firm notes that camera specs continue to drive upgrades among customers with the market moving toward a standard configuration of 49MP to 64MP for primary lenses and three lenses for rear setups. Furthermore, advancements in hardware such as periscopic lens modules, hybrid glass-plastic lenses, and APO (Apochromatic) lenses are enhancing color accuracy and expanding the possibilities for mobile photography.

Apple is expected to contribute to the rebound by bringing its 5x optical zoom tetraprism lens, currently available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, to the smaller Pro model this year.

Following the successful launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with its exclusive Tetraprism telephoto zoom lens, the industry is expected to see an increase in the adoption of periscopic lens modules. Apple plans to bring this advanced hardware upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro, making it accessible to more users in the Pro series.

We expect Apple to unveil its new iPhone 16 models in the fall of 2024. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for more iPhone updates ahead of the unveiling.
