Real Madrid is in talks with Apple to live stream Santiago Bernabéu stadium games in immersive video on Vision Pro, according to a new report from Marca, via 9to5Mac.
In a recent General Assembly session, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez Rodríguez revealed that the club is exploring ways to address the high demand for seats at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Amid concerns raised by some club members about the resale of season tickets due to high demand for seats at the Santiago Bernabéu, the club is seeking legal ways to curb the practice. While loaning season tickets for specific matches is allowed, selling them for profit is not. Despite sanctions against members engaging in this, the issue persists. Against this backdrop, club president Florentino Pérez is deep in negotiations with Apple to bring the "Infinite Santiago Bernabéu" to life.
Rodríguez revealed that the club is negotiating with Apple to let everyone experience matches through the company's Vision Pro virtual reality glasses.
"It's an issue. Everyone wants to come to the Santiago Bernabéu, which is why we're negotiating with Apple to create glasses that let you experience the match as if you were in the stadium. It would be the Infinite Santiago Bernabéu," Pérez stated. This isn't science fiction—it's Real Madrid and the future, eliminating the problem of "sold-out" events.
Notably, Apple has already worked with Real Madrid on the 'Real Madrid: Until the End' documentary that premiered last year. The three-part series offered a behind the scenes look at their 2021–2022 season.
Eventually, Immersive Video could be huge selling point for Vision Pro; however, content is currently very limited. Last month, Apple released 'Submerged,' its first scripted film captured in Apple Immersive Video. The format leverages 8K, 3D video with a 180-degree field of view, and Spatial Audio to transport viewers to the center of the action.
