Apple to Unveil New iPhone SE As Early As Next Week [Report]

Apple is planning to unveil its much-anticipated new iPhone SE in the coming days, according to a report from Bloomberg. The company is expected to announce the device as early as next week, with sales beginning later this month.

Sources say Apple will forgo a launch event and instead announce the device through a press release on its website. Inventory of the current iPhone SE has been dwindling for weeks, with some configurations unavailable for extended periods—further fueling speculation of an imminent replacement. Additionally, the current model was discontinued in the EU because it lacks a USB-C port.

The new device, code-named V59, also will be Apple's first with an in-house cellular modem, replacing a component from Qualcomm Inc., Bloomberg News has reported. It will have a larger screen with Face ID and also include a speedier A18 chip, which will help support Apple Intelligence. The removal of the home button from the iPhone SE means that Apple will have fully phased out the iconic interface, which debuted on the first iPhone in 2007.


Notably, the iPhone SE announcement could come around the same time as the unveiling of new Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds. Those are predicted to arrive as early as February 11. Allegedly, they will be the first Apple earbuds with a built-in heart rate monitor, a feature that could eventually make its way to AirPods.
