A new forecast from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple is developing a more affordable MacBook with an A-series chip and is targeting a 2027 release for its first smart glasses.
The report points to a new, more affordable MacBook entering mass production in late 2025 or early 2026. This model will reportedly feature an A18 Pro processor and an approximately 13-inch display. Kuo also notes potential color options, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow. Apple is apparently aiming to use this new device to help boost its total MacBook shipments back to their pandemic-era peak of around 25 million units in 2026, with the affordable model projected to make up 5 to 7 million of those sales.
Kuo's forecast also touches on Apple's smart glasses, which he expects to enter mass production in 2027. This aligns with his previously leaked roadmap for Apple's head-mounted devices. These wearables will reportedly lack a display, focusing instead on audio playback, video recording, camera, and AI environmental sensing features. The information contrasts with a recent report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said Apple was accelerating development of its smart glasses for a potential 2026 launch. Apple is also said to be developing a dedicated chip for the device.
The analyst named Everwin Precision as a key supplier for both projects, serving as the reference design partner for the new MacBook's casing and the frames for the smart glasses. The company, which already supplies casings for the MacBook Pro, is expected to see significant revenue and profit growth from these new orders.
